Fight On! is still rolling, and wants your submissions! Issue 12 will be dedicated to James M. Ward, so we very much welcome science-fantasy themed articles for this issue!
NPCs (maybe some gods this time?), rules variants, and adventures are areas where coverage seems to be a little lighter right now, so those are also good things to submit if you want to get published with us faster.
But - both of the above notes are just guidelines. Send us your best stuff, whatever it is. Feel free also to let us know what you're thinking you might do and/or float ideas right here in this thread! Fight on!

Also, if anyone who knows Jim and/or his career well wants to volunteer, we could use some sort of retrospective/discussion/interview type thingie. I have learned the hard way that I am not good at this sort of thing myself.

That's a pretty tight deadline there.

I guess so. I think I've always done it a month from release in the past, plus a few days for the next Sunday. If it makes a difference I can extend it to the 24th. Actually, I think that's a good idea. Now you have to submit something though...

The 4+ months between deadlines has allowed me to prep considerably. I'd say completely, but my artist half is a chaotic neutral procrastinator.

The one page "dungeon" I sent didn't make it into #11, so feel free to use it in a future issue. I've also submitted it to this year's One Page Dungeon contest, and I'm not sure if it's allowed to appear in both places.
There will be another episode of Doxy, Urgent Care Cleric too.

I've got about three potential articles and was wondering which you'd rather see: - a sequel to "Scrolls Gone Wild!" called "Cantrips Gone Wild!" which adds a simple cantrip system, with options for cantrip scrolls and wands.
- a different sequel to "Scrolls Gone Wild!" called "Curses Gone Wild!", for spicing up cursed scrolls.
- an elaboration of the random weather material I've been developing (use a reaction roll to see how the weather feels about you, with potentially lots of detail from a simple roll) and possibly also including the weather-worker class and spells, which top out with Fortean Precipitation I, II and III.
Preferences?

The one most different from whatever other people turn out to submit, would be the true but cheeky and useless answer. In other words they all sound good. But, we have not really had an article on curses in the mag before, so that would be breaking new ground, and also I am always happy with new character classes not written by me, so the weather stuff is attractive on those grounds as well. And, thanks for thinking of us! We will look out for your article.

If anyone has an adventure for Metamorphosis Alpha, especially one that highlights the weirdness of that setting, that would be a good thing to submit for this issue. Or even an MA-inspired X-Plorers or Traveller adventure. (I mean, I would have to contact Marc Miller for permission to do a Traveller thing, but my guess is that would work out OK.)

I am working on an alternate Armor Class/Combat system for old school gaming. It is based somewhat on the principles used in Conan RPG 1985 TSR version - that heavy armor makes you easier to hit and can absorb/deflect some damage. Also emphasizes the effectiveness of shields and make helms more relevant
I believe I have a way worked out to fairly simply incorporate this concept to old school D&D (and retro clones).
Still playtesting it and in 8th revision!
I'll submit it and see if you find it interesting enough to print when I'm done...

I have some Creature Compendium holdovers from a previous issue going in (Aggressive Avians in the Mutant Future), and I'm finishing up a new Mutant Future playable PC race - "Geologians," AKA living rock people. Plus I'll have a couple more "Sir Tendeth" comix. May even finish up a post-apocalyptic One Page Dungeon too.

Cal, are you doing a Random's Assortment for #12? I see it didn't make it into #11.

Planning on it! Gotta use that art you sent (and feel free to do one more if you like). Sniderman, all that stuff sounds great - we need Geologians!

A few questions...
Where would you submit a potential article?
Would there be an interest in material for the old James Bond RPG from Victory games?
Thanks.

I believe that the Bond rpg has been cloned, if that helps with the decision on inclusion. It's called Double Zero, I think.

Do games that are included have to be cloned or just old school?
The double zero clone is just an incomplete document floating around the web... It actually isn't as elegant as the original rules that it is based on.

No, they don't have to be cloned at all, but it might make the legalities of including supporting material easier. That was my only thought, and it was only a thought, as I am not involved with the editorial side of the magazine.

Would love to hear about more subs we can expect, so I know what's still missing and can shake people down to cover it.

Hi cal,
I'm going to send in a weird creature article; it is a beast inspired by a Jack Vance sci-fi story, and can be used in a fantasy or sci-fi campaign. It's called a "Thew Wagon." I'll send in the piece in the next week, and also I will have an illustration by Ian Baggley accompanying it.
Cheers, Jeff Talanian

Awesome! Glad to see your and Ian's stuff back in the mix. If he ever wants to send another Bushido creature that's welcome too!

"Curses Gone Wild!" is nearly finished. I may have time to do "Cantrips Gone Wild!"

Cal
I don't think I'll have a chance to the adventure I was going to do. Been too busy after being downsized a few weeks ago.

Rough draft of "Curses" is now done, but I'm going to let it sit for two days, do a second sweep and possible rewrite, then send it off. Will be starting "Cantrips" tonight or tomorrow.
Edit: In fact, I now have the rough draft of "Cantrips" done. So I'll give both articles the second sweep in two days.

That's great news, patw! I think (knock on wood) we should be able to get both your adventure and Pigdivot into #12. Of course I have to see what else we get too - but we will try!

I haven't been able to make a start on the third instalment of Doxy: Urgent Care Cleric yet, but it's on the drawing board ready to go. It just might not be ready to go by the 24th.

Thinking of submitting the Mysterious Laboratory of Xoth-ragar. Maybe a 4 page adventure?

Kelvin, with the comics, as long as it's ready by the time we need to lay out the middle of the issue, it's cool. We'll look out for it!
Monk, that sounds great, and definitely in keeping with the Jim Ward dedication. We'll look out for it!
