Those first two links, and the link to a DA game that someone played in, in another thread along with the First Fantasy Campaign book, will give about as much info as you are likely to find if you want to play an Arnesonian version of OD&D.

I sure would have loved to have played in Gygax's game, Arneson's and Hargrave's game. All are great ref's and it would have been awesome to have been in those circles back in the early days.

Ummm, Wow!
Thanks Pierce Inverarity, whomever you are.
I'm a huge fan of Gygax, Arneson and Hargrave!
These are great (and big). I'll bookmark these for future reading.
A special thanks because Hargrave info is very scarce out there. I really credit Hargrave for making me realize I was a home brew fanatic early on, and later coming to the epiphany that I have always been an OD&D (vs. AD&D) player.
w00t!

OK I just read that Great Wyrm Road bit. Thanks for sharing that And I might add that i KNEW what a 72 on the Critical Table was before you recounted it (as it always seemed to be the most common of the 'instant death' crits on the table). 72. David pursed his lips. Cocked his head. Smiled impishly. “You see The Ultimate Demon’s eyes widen. His mouth opens slightly, he looks rather astonished.” He paused. “He then crumples to the floor. His eyes are still open in shock as he begins to fade away. Pembry and Irm stop trying to claw their way thru the doors.” Dave closed AG I with a snap. “Heart Pierced. Die Immediately” he said. “Lucky shot”. Everyone let out his or her breaths.
