Like you, I've hunted a long, long time for a copy of Warriors of Mars. It's always been one of those things that would be great to get, but you know deep down you'll probably never really get one. Sure, copies do pop up rarely, but they attract droves of collectors and the small fish get overrun, or pipped at the line. You know how it goes I'm sure... Well, something must have clicked into place somewhere cos I recently got my hands on a beautiful copy of Warriors of Mars. I can hardly believe what great condition it's in -- among the best of any of the 70s era TSR goodies I have. I don't mean to gloat (too much ) but nobody else I know is very impressed by any of "that old stuff" I hang onto, and I just had to show someone how shiny and red it is! ENJOY ;D ;D ;D

That's awesome! I finally broke down and coughed up the cash to buy one of these a couple of years ago. A lot more than I wanted to pay and yours looks like it might be even better condition than mine. Congrats and enjoy! Then you can fill up some space in the WoM section with ideas and thoughts on the game!

So... Is it playable? Review? Envious!

Oh, it's certainly playable. It also has rules which are kind of a proto-RPG, since they were kind of Chainmail-like but also allowed for individual characters to fight each other. A lot of fun, but would be more fun if I had miniatures for Barsoom.

Which, following a great historical tradition, suggests that someone should produce a three-book RPG called Towers and Thoats or something similar.

Actualy it has a binder on my shelf (right next to Cithog's Red Planet,) but a game that is to WoM, as D&D is to Chainmail, would be a very cool thing indeed.
