Laric gets ready to shoot at something as soon as we're ready to use our light.

Liam nods in agreement. Then he quietly tries to sneak across the T intersection, going straight, towards the sounds of snoring. ((Natural 20! A very good roll!!)) Sneaking across the way, you can see that there are four goblins here on very crude bunk beds, there is a lantern burning very dimly here. There are two bunks unoccupied, meaning eight could be sleeping here at one time. There is a rack with shortswords put away and leather armor is dutifully hung from hangers on the wall away from the doorway. ((A rule that I am using at home...the kids call it the Cool Factor Rule. IF you roll a natural 20 while making some type of "skill" check you can describe or ask for something "cool" to have happened. I had not thought about this until just now as we started only using the rule two weeks ago, please take advantage of this now if you would like! An example was a Natural 20 on a "acrobatics" check, the player asked if he could shoot his bow, I allowed him to go ahead and make an attack roll! He hit and killed his opponent and landed in a flourish. Very Cool.))

FENNICK sticks with GALAX for the time being as he is not one to murder an incapacitated foe. He continues hiding the light emanating from the lantern to keep the goblins from noticing it. He also listens intently at the chanting/humming to determine the source or its meaning. Listening closely Fennick can make out a bit from the gibberish, something about Iron Lord of Depths and Darkness, accepting this sacrifice...

Hmmm... how can I make that cool? *ponders the thought*

IT's not that cool BUT it is something that I would allow. It's a minor twist in the game but nothing that couldn't be possible.))

OOC: Well, I wouldn't want to change something that was already indicated (two awake goblin guards). How's about this...
IC: Liam crouches low to the wall and, quiet as a mouse, crosses the intersection. Continuing his stroke of quiet luck, he sneaks into the room and swipes the four short swords from the weapon rack before returning back to the hallway. He thinks to himself, "At least if they wake up, they won't have anything to fight with...".
Once he is back out of the room, he'll quietly make his way back across the intersection to the rest of the party.
In as quiet and breathless a whisper as he can manage, he says to Kib, "Four asleep." To the general direction of the rest of the party, he holds up four fingers and points to the room straight ahead, then holds up two fingers and points in the direction of the two guards.

He also listens intently at the chanting/humming to determine the source or its meaning. Listening closely Fennick can make out a bit from the gibberish, something about Iron Lord of Depths and Darkness, accepting this sacrifice... As FENNICK hears the word 'sacrifice', rage begins to burn inside him. He hisses lowly to the group, "They are performing a ritual sacrifice in the guarded room. My guess is that it is close to the climax. I will not stand idly by and allow the slaughter of an innocent, whether the Lady Corrine or not, to a foul ceremony." FENNICK turns to Nemmet and whispers, "Good Master Nemmet, please hold my lantern." After handing the lantern to Nemmet, FENNICK adjusts his armor and shield, and holds Sarenrae's symbol in his hand for a quick prayer for luck and victory in battle. He then hoists his club with a motion that shows he will not wait long to strike.

"Nice work, Master Liam!" whispers Kib. "I agree with Fennick; with the guards disarmed and the foul ritual underway, the time to strike is now!"

Liam sets the four short swords down against the wall as quietly as he can and whispers, "Though they are now asleep and unarmed, the four in that room are still goblins, and not to be underestimated. But Laric and I should be able to take them out in short order, then we can run to help the rest of you."
OOC: Migellito is dealing with some RL issues right now and might not be on for a few days (he said web interaction will be sporadic... or was it spastic?). I play with him on two other PbP campaigns, so I think he'd be cool with me calling his shots until he's back.

FENNICK whispers to the others, "I'm not sure we have time to wait for Liam and Laric to dispatch the sleeping goblins before storming the ritual as a full group. We may need to split into two groups to successfully save the victim and make our escape."

I'd rather not puppet Laric going into a fight! IC: Liam picks up two of the goblin short swords and passes them to Laric. He whispers, "Here, these might do you better."To Kib he says in a hushed voice, "We'll start on the four when you attack the two in the hall."He then draws his sword and picks up one of the other short swords and steals across the intersection to wait for the signal to begin (assuming that to be Kib and Fennick's attack on the two guards).

Recap: We went back to the room with the stairs and went the other direction. Came to a "T" intersection where we could go straight or turn right. To the right, about 50 feet down, is a pair of goblin guards. Straight, Kib heard snoring sounds. Liam secretly went straight to check out the snoring. Rolled a 20, so got to do something "cool". Decided to steal the goblins' swords in case they wake up while being dispatched (they would thus be unarmed).
Fennick heard the goblins down the right hallway chanting and sounding like they're going to sacrifice someone so we need to act quickly.
Laric and Liam are going to try and dispatch the four sleeping goblins (if we can get the first two in their sleep, the other two should be easy enough) while Kib and Fennick take out the two guards as quickly as possible so the rest of the party can charge into the room, kill the baddies, bob's your uncle, girl is saved.

Nigel picks up one of the short swords and puts it in his belt somewhat akward like. He checks his rocks and pulls his dagger from he sheath and adjusts it and resheaths it. "I am ready, lets go." Is there a door down the corridor to the right?
GALAX will prepare to charge.

FENNICK whispers to Galax, Kib, Nigel, Erimus, "Galax and Kib, why don't you take out the guards at the door. Once they're out of the picture, Erimus and I will break open the door and try to disrupt the ceremony."
Turning to Nigel, "Nigel, if Erimus and I stay in the doorway so that we cannot be surrounded by enemies, can you cast your spell into the room?"

Once your spell is off, I will let Kib and Galax pass to enter the fray and I will stay back to bring justice to any cowardly villain attempting to escape."

Kib motions to the others to be quiet. He will sneak forward towards the voices and attempt to understand what they are talking/singing about. Once he has gathered this information, he will backtrack and report his findings to the others. As you move closer to the intersection you can tell that the noise is coming from the right hand side not straight ahead, though there is some noise coming from straight ahead as well...possibly snoring? Peeking right you can see that there is a hall roughly 50 feet long that halfway down two goblins stand guard in...they do look very relaxed. The hall ends in a doorway where there is some greenish light coming from THIS room is where you can hear most of the noise, chanting or humming would be the best description. I just want to clarify which is why I quoted my post...the hall to the right ends in a doorway...as was suspected. From now on I will use archway instead of doorway. So you have the two guards 25' down the hall not at the door itself. If this changes your plan please let me know, I loved reading the posts and hate to lose the build up BUT I needed to clarify a few items.

Liam is ready to go whenever the rest of the party takes action. He will position himself so that he can make a coup de grace on one of the goblins in a bottom bunk the instant the first person heads down the hallway. He assumes he will have to fight the goblin in the top bunk at that point.
I would assume Laric is going to take a similar action...
