Hello. Just rcvd my new S&W complete ed the other day and was hoping to take it out for a test run.
I play via Skype voice (free to download and use) and Dragonsfoot chat room for dice roller and a very simple graph paper like map tool (you wouldn't need to really know anything about this program I would link to it when we started and you could see me drawing on a piece of virtual graph paper).
I would volunteer to DM and run The Halls of Tizun Thane (from an old White Dwarf magazine). Potentially a 1 shot - or if we were having fun maybe future sessions
I have a player or 2 looking for a few more.
Any takers? PM me or post here please- Scaly

Count me as interested, but I only have the previous version of S&W to refer to. Would that be an issue?

I would be interested as well, what time is the game set for PST? EST?. and when you say S&W complete do you mean core or white-box? Let me know, thanks. ;D

Hello happy 2011 The S&W complete is the new edition that just came out. The other versions of the game should work just fine if you don't have it. I believe the main difference is the addition of some character classes (but I could be wrong). The S&W complete has rules for : Assassins, Cleric, Druid, Fighter, Magic User, Monk, Paladin, Ranger and Thief. Races include : human, halfling, 1/2 elf, elf, dwarf. I live in Seattle WA (Pacific std time zone). I was envisioning an approx 3 hour session. My schedule is fairly flexible although I do have a M-F job. Possible start times for me would be anytime Sunday, Saturday late morning or early aft, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday starting @ 5pm pst (which would be 8pm est). Hopefully one of those time slots would work well for the group also(?). I figure we could use this forum to post characters if you like. Method: roll 4d6 and arrange in any order. 3d6x10 starting gold. Start at 1st level with max hit points. Thanks! Scaly

That would work well for me, just let me know if you have room for me and I'll roll out my char (unless you want to roll stats).

Definitely have room for you grimstone, and could probably use another player or 2 even. Feel free to roll up characters on your own and post in this thread if you like. Use real dice or an on-line dice roller whatever you prefer. If anyone plays a magic user I will let them start out with 6 random spells in their spellbook to start out with. There are 10 first level MU spells (chart is on pg 51 of the S&W complete book). Re-roll any dupes you get...thanks

Name:Conall Class:Fighting-man Race:Human LVL: 1 XP: 0/2000 Hit-Points: 9/9
Str 17 +2 to hit/dam +5% bonus XP Int 7 Wis 7 Con 15 +1 Hit per die Dex 14 +1 to hit, +1 AC (if your using ascending AC) Chr 12 Max Hirelings 4
Movement Rate 12 Saving Throw 14 AC 16
Weight Carried 75lbs
Weapons / Damage Short-sword 1d6 Spear 1d6, Range 20' -2 "to hit" for every 20' increment
Armor Chain-mail, Shield
Equipment Backpack, bedroll, 3 candles, 5 torches, water-skin, 2 sacks(15 pound capacity), 50' hemp rope, crowbar, 7 days trail rations, block & tackle
Treasure 22 gp 5 sp 7 cp
Fighting-man Class Abilities Establish Stronghold (9th): At ninth level, a Fighting-man may establish a stronghold and attract a body of loyal men-at-arms who will swear fealty to him. Most likely, the protection of a castle will attract villagers, and the Fighting-man will become a feudal Lord or even a Baron. Multiple Attacks: Against creatures with less than one full hit die, a Fighting-man makes one attack per level each round.
I think that does it, I'm using S&W core. If there are any difference's feel free to edit as needed

@ Grimsfoot In the Complete version a 17 Strength gets you +2 to hit/+2 damage.
I'd like to play as well if there is room. I played with Meepo in the Online B/X game Pat Armstrong/Ode to Black Dougal blog ran a year and a half ago.

Would be good to have you on board gratsaxonviolence.
Character looks cool grimstone. I like the term 'Fighting-man' for class. Very old school!

Are you going to enforce the ability score minimums on page 25? Do high strength non-fighters get a +1 to hit/dam bonus?
Anyone thinking of M-U with only the Core Rules should know in Complete the bonus first level spell for 15+ INT has gone away.

I would like to use the minimum score req rules. I would allow a swop on any characteristics on a 1-for-2 basis.
I would allow non-fighter classes to get a +1hit/dmg bonus (+1 to hit on any STR score 13 or >, if they had a 16 or > it would be +1/+1)

Reading over this dungeon a bit - I would allow anyone who wants to play a thief or Cleric to start at 2nd level. Max hps at 1st level and then roll for hps at 2nd level. Discard any 1 rolled for hps and re-roll. Thanks, Scaly

You're AC 8 with 5 hit points. You're a random Kobold away from death.
Think back-up monk.
With AC 8 and 5 hit points.

Looks like we could still use another player, or ideally 2 more. Possible interest from another gamer buddy today so hopefully he decides to join in shortly..
Here is some factoids about the dungeon 'The Halls of Tizun Thane' Originally appeared in White Dwarf magazine #18 (April 1980) Later reprinted in best of WD modules Written by Albie Fiore, who was also a crossword puzzle and other gamebook writer. He died in 2009. The module introduces 7 new monsters, a few of which I believe make it into Fiend Folio later on.

Sweet. We are up to 4 pc's. One more would be perfect. I will roll up an NPC also in case someone buys it. Next we get to start the dubious task of ironing out a day/time. I think we are all in the USA so that should make it easier. I posted earlier a bunch of options that would work for me, and I am fairly flexible. On the gaming ? - I just 're-started' gaming a few years ago. Played B/X and 1e back in the day. Really enjoying it again...It's in my blood now like a rot grub

If its on a weekend I can pretty much work with anytime, weekdays would be trickier 7pm-10pm PST (just an example) is 10pm-1am EST. although if there's a certain day that someone has time to play, I can rearrange to fit it in.

Saturday's are usually bad for me. Sundays are possibly doable. Weeknights are good too, as you know from your monday night game scaly. Grimstone: I started gaming in 81' with Holmes, followed quickly by Moldvay/Cook, AD&D and a bit of second edition before I moved to other games in the early 90's. Returned to D&D with the 3.0\3.5 rules, but didn't really like them. Returned to older versions about 2 years ago.

I am good with week nights, Saturdays are not so good, but we will see.
I started gaming with Moldvay Basic in '82, and by 88 or so I was into Rolemaster. Came back to D&D about 3 years ago.

Maybe we should shoot for an upcoming Sunday late afternoon/early evening time slot(?) such as 3pm pst/6pm est start?
So far haven't seen too many objections to that

Orm the Axe stands near 6 feet tall, with long blond hair and icy blue eyes. His beard is braided and his teeth are yellow. He keeps his mail polished and free of rust, his trusty axe (he calls her Helga) is always honed to a fine edge. His laugh rumbles forth like thunder and he never ignores a friend in need or forgets those that betray him.
He wears a tattered brown and green plaid cloak over his mail, and leather breeches and fur lined boots.
