Grimstone, I am a little hesitant at this time, it would give me 9 players in this story...if you could be patient and if we get another body I would be happy to open a second story thread within the game world if you would like. IF you would like to do a solo story line I could do something with that as well but I would still need time to get some ideas together...cohesive ideas that is. Just let me know and you are more than welcome to read and let me know what your decision is. I was away from my computer (holiday events & travel) when you were setting this up, or I would have spoken up last week. Once I got back and saw you already had a lot of players I decided to just lurk. However, if you are willing to open a second story thread with another group, then I am very interested in joining in! Indeed I have no issue with two groups adventuring in the same world and I believe that there is more than enough source material!

I want to play them all! But seriously, I am most leaning towards Cleric or Halfling. Let's see what the dice say...

To aplus and eris,
An all Hobbit party is fine with me, you would most likely hail from Berry Grove. The hobbits here are known for their wines and for their mushrooms, this is their chief export.

Should I roll stats on Invisible Castle, or will you assign them? I see you did 4d6, drop lowest, any order...

Ha! I was sort of kidding about an all Hobbit party, but now that I think about it, that would be fun...and as Grimstone wrote challenging. Let's see...in Whitebox, halflings (ie. Hobbits) all advance as Fighting-Men. So, as an All Hobbit party we wouldn't have any arcane or divine magic, at all. Healing might be a problem unless you let us have access to something...maybe we, Hobbits, have healing salves or potions that some of us can make . A 'Healer' sub-class maybe? That way APlus could...sort of...get his Cleric and his Halfling at the same time. As for me, I am thinking about a PC good with ranged weapons, traps and tracking. Sort of a hunter type...moves very quietly, can hide very well, good with sling and bow...all the things that play to the halfling's Whitebox traits. A "monster hunter"...Oooo, this could be interesting!

Hmm, I like the idea of a hobbit working for an elite mycological sect. While hobbits have become quite adept at cultivating mushrooms, the best mushrooms come from dark, wild places. Seems like a worthy enough cause to get me to leave the comforts of Berry Grove. "Expert Mushroom Getter".
If this could be worked into Hobbit religious beliefs, to allow for some kind of hobbit cleric-type, well that's just gravy...

I think I would like to play a halfling who is a cartographer Interested in exploring some of the less known areas, in attempt to map them and expand knowledge of the known world.

Ok to sum up all the above! I will assign stat numbers to you guys, I will roll 4d and drop the lowest you can assign as your hearts desire! Since this will be my second group I will expand a few things but it will take me a bit to expand my house rules for this one...but I am thinking of adding a thief class...just need to figure out which one. IF one of you would like to be a Cleric...hmm...let me do some more thinking on that one, though I do like what you posted for an idea. I will have to say you all have sparked an idea and I know what I will do with you guys especially when I saw the post about cartographer and exploration. IF I can find what I'm looking for on my hard drive we could put something together by the end of the week upcoming!

I am thinking of adding a thief class...just need to figure out which one. White Box Heroes has been my go-to doc for additional options. It's nice in that if you wanted to add a thief now, and later down the road add paladin or druid, you could use the same document. It has a lot of great options, and I have yet to find the need to look beyond what it offers. Plus it is one of the few options that has a bard, which is a class I have always been particularly fond of, and generally like to make available in games I run (even if no one ever chooses it). As far as White Box Heroes' specific implementation of the thief, I like that it uses d20 for thief skills, as it tidies things up a bit and fits well with the spirit of S&W:WB. Feel free to have a look: swcompanion.wdfiles.com/local--files/odds-ends/wbh

I prefer a simpler thief model. Thieves are just like fighting-Men, but with magic-user hit dice (or slightly better) and cleric attack matrix.
While wearing leather or no armour at all they have a 4 in 6 chance of performing any genuinely risky feat of subterfuge (i.e., thief skills), and perform non-risky feats of subterfuge automatically. What is "non-risky" is determined by the referee.
If a thief surprises a humanoid enemy with any weapon that emphasises finesse rather than brute force, the thief adds 1d6 damage at 1st level, and a further 1d6 damage for every two levels attained beyond the 1st.
That's it.

Thieves are fighters who have a high DEX and maybe some interesting contacts. No skills. No differences from Fighting Men. They may do DEX checks when nimble fingers are needed and INT checks when trying to discern a trap/lock. At least in my OD&D.

Ok I am going to try this "Thief" out for the halfling first! rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=2505&products_id=59698I am really leaning towards Druid for that Cleric...and if our Fighting Type wants to play more of a Ranger type I will just give him some bonuses as I am doing in the first game thread. Stat Numbers Eris 11,14,10,15,16,15 Grimstone 17,10,17,15,10,14 Aplus 14,15,17,10,15,15 Aplus you are the stat line winner WOW the dice really like you, A-plus effort for them!
