There will be more, but this is a good start.
- a simple schematic cave battle in four panels: a halfling sneaks through a small opening into a cave that the rest of the party can’t get into; a hydra cuts him off at the gate, trapping him in the dead end; the rest of the party attacks the hydra with spears and spells through the passage where the hydra can’t strike back; and finally, the halfling brings the treasure out past the hydra’s dead body. taken - a picture of a sleeping adventurer or adventuring party (an MU there for sure) having a bad dream - illustrations of treasure taken - a scarab beetle pushing a ball of dung around a wild array of Tsolyani (or just arcane if you’re not a Tekuphile) glyphs - pictures of heroquesting! - a picture of a sorceress bearing a runestaff, blowing a kiss to the still star-studded dawn sky, which kiss gradually coalesces (literally) into a silvery moon - adventurers traveling overland taken - hard-bitten fighting men - a computer in a dungeon! - Dragonnewts! taken
- Scorpion Men! taken - guys are similar to some beings that were in Star Frontiers - highly intelligent amoebic creatures of vaguely humanoid shape (3-4’ tall). Their tough, greyish, rubbery skin is very elastic, capable of sprouting up to 6 pseudopod limbs and 3-4 “fingers” per pseudopod for grasping/using tools and other tasks where manual dexterity is required. They may also adjust their form to half or double their normal height/width (although retaining their normal mass) - A kind of low-rent vampire, say a mid-level adventurer who got vampirized on his last outing and is now working as a kind of crappy minion for a ‘real’ vampire taken
- cave clams/dungeon oysters, with slippery grey-green bodies and a row of beady red eyes encased in thick, ruffly bivalved shells the size of an ogre's head. taken - Fossil elementals (basically, prehistoric creature skeletons reanimated as earth spirits) - Small bipedal weasel-men (3’) with patchwork leather armor and barbed javelins - Initiates, rune lords, or rune priests of Humakt taken
- An old time knock down drag out fantasy barroom brawl! taken - A free-standing tomb - A psychedelic real world/gaming world/mythology blending picture
- A cavern room with a great clamshell kelp bed, guarded by a coral golem, with a powerful sea hag sorceress rising in surprise from its depths… taken - A cliff face with two cavern entrances over a bleak diamond-shaped beach; alternately or additionally, the same tableau with a laughing dark-haired hill giant and a giant crab flipped over on its back - A priest of Dagon (kraken God w/ blood red eyes) armed with a trident taken - A reflecting silver shield of elven make - An underground pool with a giant jellyfish - Merman & mermaid warriors and nobles taken - A giant sea scorpion taken - A party of adventurers talking to a giant intelligent clam - An iron statue of a pig on a soapstone pedestal in the middle of a village - A woodcutter renting out his mule to a party of adventurers; this mule is actually immortal & should be highlighted in the picture

I'll bags the barroom brawl. May be able to do a few others but I'll wait and see what's left after the first round of pickings.

Thanks ant!
You should also pick 2-3 choice traps out of the "Random's Traps" thread and do those as well, if you're still so inclined - your trap work is top notch!

For some reason I am drawn to the cave clams/dungeon oysters, so I'll take that one. While on the subject of bivalves, I'd also like to do the adventurers talking w/ clam shot. I'm also keen to do some Gloranthan action ducks filler illos, but will supress this urge if cooler heads deem this course of action unworthy.

Bright neon green light on the action ducks. Go for it!
A duck battling a penguin would also be a propos for us I think.

Couple more for the intrepid:
- a dark underground cavern, where vines grow on damp piles of earth, and in the middle stands a radiant tree with golden apples
- a "catacomb" of rough-hewn passages with mummified cadavers resting in alcoves, with grave goods as might be offered by barbarians

Also, would anyone object to the cave battle-schematic turning into a comic strip?

Quadruple dibs, if that is possible. Also, would anyone object to the cave battle-schematic turning into a comic strip? All yours, Jensen. Thanks! On the cave battle, it's meant to illustrate some points in an article. So it could be a comic strip, but it should be pretty minimalist I think - although heck, if you can't restrain yourself, we can probably work with whatever you come up with. I was thinking something sort of like those old news magazine comics with the faceless guys running around doing things, hands to the ears and lines around the head conveying surprise - I almost thought about having someone's kid draw these, actually. But so anyway take it away on those four and see what you can do. Thanks!

I got the dragonewts, scorpion men, and the Rune Lord of Humakt.
What stage dragonewts?

Awesome, Kesher. Any and all stages are great. Heck, if you wanted to do a "Devil's in the Details: Dragonnewts" over the holidays, we'd take it...not to mention Ducks!
I'll take what I can get, and whatever you want to do would be grand.

Ooh, you are a cruel temptress... ("tempter" just looked weird... I've always wanted to do my own version of the classic Chaosium dragonewt "Walk of Evolution illustration..."

I've always wanted to do my own version of the classic Chaosium dragonewt "Walk of Evolution illustration..." Make it so! This is perfect for the article, actually. So I've got you down for this Dragonnewt illo, a Walktapus, a Scorpion Man (maybe the two of them can go together in your short article?), and the Humakti. This is all going well indeed.

Hatching out the completed illustrations from the list -- good idea! You should do that from now on, Cal - it makes the process simpler.

Hi Calithena,
My step-daughter would like to attempt the sorceress with runestaff blowing a kiss to the stars.

Thanks Kelvin!
Here are three more that are up for grabs - should probably start a new thread:
1. A shadow dragon descending upon a party in a room containing an obsidian chest. 2. A shadow demon with like creature attacking a single PC 3. A trapper appearing as a carpet enveloping PC(s) investigating a pedestal with a gem

Celurian, that would be awesome. Thank you! Have at.
Layout is starting slowly around here, I'll bug people individually if I need particular pieces, but keep sending 'em along. Thanks!

If it helps, the undersea gladiator picture will be half a page, but tall and thin, like the picture I did for "Lost Dragonia" in #10.

The bar brawl will be done by the end of the week with 1 or 2 random traps following soon after. I can send you the bar brawl as is if you need a size reference.
