If I didn't already have 2 or 3 copies...
This game is brilliant, but unplayable as written. Curiously enough, a lot of people on the Universe mailing list say that its quirks are because it was written by "wargamers", as opposed to roleplayers.
Funny, Gary and Dave were both wargamers...

I think Grognardia had something on this recently.
It's not really unplayable, it's just a bit crufty for those of us who like to roll up a character in five minutes.
It does have some innovative rules and systems.
