Well, this isn't a TSR game but it was written by Gary Gygax so maybe it fits this forum. I'm thinking of the old Avalon Hill wargame.
I just won a copy of this cheap on e-bay and am kind of excited about it, since Gary wrote it and all. I visited boardgamegeek and read what they had to say about the game, but was wondering if anyone here had played it.
Am I going to be happy with my purchase?

It's actually a decent board wargame, very reminiscent of miniatures rules, with facing playing a large role, etc. The morale rules are great, and do a lot to give a period feel to the whole.
Late game usually devolves into a free for all, but it's quite good nonetheless.
Complexity-wise, it's got a bit more chrome than Bill Banks' Ancients or DG's Battles of the Ancient World rules, but is not nearly as fiddly as Richard Berg's Great Battles of History games for GMT.

Good game, you can definitely see his miniature rules influence on this eGG board game. Not a bad purchase at all.

I've been on the look-out for one on the cheap myself, Fin, but forgot to bid on the one that just ended @ $11.05---so if that's the one you won, I'm glad to see it go to a good home and feel less "doh!" about missing my bid
