This Character sheet is modeled very closely on the various sample Characters given in the original Lost Caverns of Tsojconth written in 1976 by Gary Gygax. The section marked "Combat" is for recording weapons, offensive magic items and such, and the space for spells can also serve for thief skills and such for those sort of characters - as was done on the originals.

I have two character sheets to share. One is in A6 format (four sheets to an A4 sized paper, similar to Letter size), meant for oneshots with Labyrinth Lord. I've used it many times and it's been just about everything I need and nothing I don't. To be found here. Note that "Grottröj" is the name of a local OSR mini-con that runs quarterly. The other is for a game I'm running tonight. I thought I wanted a sub-set of the Lamentations of the Flame Princess rules (only Fighter and M-U, no skills). Print one copy double-sided and split in the middle to get two character sheets. I haven't tried this yet, so I may find some things lacking. Find it here, and consider it CC-0 if you want to fiddle with it yourself! (For those not into licenses, CC-0 is pretty much the same as Public Domain but acceptable world-wide).

That looks pretty good, but what is "GAM"?

Since JG was into that Universal rules, I wonder if that means Game System used? --Ron--

My current 0e sheet to be used in the 19th Castle pseudo campaign but certainly adaptable to your own home game.

Here are some gems from 1975, as presented awhile ago on the Playing at the World blog: Character Sheets in 1975I find the first two particularly awesome...

I like the 1977 sheets, but upon examining them closely, realize there must have been an attempt to make them compatible with the about-to-be released AD&D Player's Handbook (as surmised by the "Wisdom Adj." and "Weapon Speed" sections). I also didn't like how the ability scores were all crammed together to make room for the Psionics section (which most people don't use) and Loyalty and Morale (which is more for NPCs than PCs) so I used photoshop to remove these parts, spread the ability score section out some more (lengthening the lines to leave room for modifier info, etc.) and voila - a pretty handy OD&D character sheet. Here's the front and here's the back

Not sure what it's origins are, but I ran across this landscape sheet doing an unrelated search earlier. Looks perfect for beginners or showing someone "the ropes" when it comes to original OD&D:

This is the OD&D character sheet that I made. It's basic, but it gets the job done!

I was inspired to create the following "Character Creation Kit" from playing with Mike Mornard at Gary Con. OD&D character creation is so simple, and can be done in less than 10 minutes even if the person has never played D&D before. So I did up this little two-paged "booklet" of sorts so that everyone can make their character without asking questions, it can just be a simple "Follow the step by step instructions until you're done."

Here is another one, this one full-size. I remembered to take luck off this time, and unless I messed something up, it contains only LBB stuff. OD&D LBB Character Record (8.5x11)Is this still available? If it's the one I'm thinking of, I used to use it quite a bit, but lost the file years ago.

We didn't use character sheets. I still have Gronan's original character sheet... it's a piece of lined three-hole paper. The other authentic option is a piece of paper torn out of a spiral notebook, with the crufties still along the side. Gronan I like it, but did everyone have some special format for how information was organized or did y'all just slap down whatever you needed to remember wherever you felt like? Did you record everything (even to-hit tables or saving throws) or just what was rolled or decided at creation?

Character stats, level, XP and gold, possessions. Especially possessions. It's the biggest difference between, for instance, two fighting men.
