I scanned this a few months ago, and meant to share it, but forgot, and just remembered after reading James' post over on Grognardia this morning. So, here's a handout from a convention I attended in PA/NJ/DE/MD corridor sometime in the early 1980s; it details Barker's Temple of Vimuhla, and was basically on tour with a large-scale model of it (which appears in pictures in TD#4 or so; David will correct me if I misremembered the issue ). Enjoy!: www.greyhawkonline.com/grodog/temp/temple_of_vimuhla.pdf

Yep, The Dragon #4 is the correct issue.
Thanks for the PDF, Allan! ;D

Now if we can only see his Underworld maps... Isn't that the truth! I'd love to be able to buy Prof. Barker's dungeons.

Barker's Temple of Vimuhla, and was basically on tour with a large-scale model of itThis is very interesting grodog. 1> Do you happen to know if that is Barker's own hand draft of the temple plan? 2> Given the trouble was taken to make a model of the temple, that of 'katalai - a medium sized town', Im wondering did Barker use the model as a generic temple architecture or did he have other temple models?

I don't, Kent, but perhaps Victor Raymond can pop in and let us know? 2> Given the trouble was taken to make a model of the temple, that of 'katalai - a medium sized town', Im wondering did Barker use the model as a generic temple architecture or did he have other temple models? That I don't know, but my assumption from what I know of Phil's approach to gaming, is that this temple would be a very specific temple architecture derived from and exemplary of Vimuhla's faith's tenets. Again, Victor and others can clarify better, I'm sure. There's also some further discussion of the model itself @ odd74.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=ept&action=display&thread=6108

Great pictures. It seems the use of colour was just as important as the structure. The wizard's lab with the giant pit looks pretty depressing, health & safety might need to check the fumes.

I'm 99% sure the plan was by Ken Fletcher. The lettering is certainly Ken's, I recognize his hand; the odds are that Ken also did the drawing. The headpiece artwork is also Ken's. 2. That's the only temple Phil built, though he also built a castle that we used both for medieval miniatures and as a Tsolyani fortress, and he built some Sakbe road pieces. Phil was fascinated with siegecraft and wrote a 300 page set of miniatures rules for sieges.
