The "classic" levels were:
Level 1 - Raw materials storage
Level 2 - Finished materials storage
Level 3 - Storage for levels 4 and 5
Level 4 - Mothballed factories and light forest ecology (nature preserves)
Level 5 - Mothballed factories and light forest ecology (human recreation use)
Level 6 - Manufacturing, engineering and botanical laboratories
Level 7 - Sparcely populated grasslands (ranching)
Level 8 - Sparcely populated farmland and botanical laboratories
Level 9 - Administrative and security facilities
Level 10 - Command center
Level 11 - Wilderness (nature preserves and human recreation use)
Level 12 - Jungle (nature preserves)
Level 13 - Ecological and personal supplies
Level 14 - Housing, entertainment and civil facilities
Level 15 - Water supply
Level 16 - Production facilities
Level 17 - Engineering and engine access
Did you use this as a template or did you use your own concept of a generational colony ship layout?
Were there any levels that you never used?
I'm thinking of treating each level as a "planet" and am fishing for what has worked for others.
For example:
=== Level 1
Asteroid Belt
Mountainous Terrain
Temperate Temperature
Micro Gravity
Normal Atmosphere
No Water Access
Religious Focus
Secretive Geriocracy Government
Average Population
Bronze/Iron Age Earth Technology
Restricted Access
=== Level 2
Terrestrial
Urban Terrain
Cool Temperature
Earthlike Gravity
Polluted Atmosphere
53% Water Access
Manufacturing Focus
Impersonal Corporate Government
Average Population
21st Century Technology
5-Star Access
===
The primitive Jumping Spider mutants on Level 1 trade for water with the android people on Level 2 who need raw materials for their manufacturing.
The primitives can find whatever is needed from the constantly drifting cloud of raw materials stored on their level. Their religious painting have long ago covered the original labels of the material.
