Hey guys, I'm ready to start taking orders for the Swords & Wizardry: WhiteBox Boxed Set. This is not the fancy official announcement - that will happen on the 20th of January. This is my way of offering my buddies in the OSR a chance to get their WB Boxed Sets first at a discounted price. The official release/shipping date is February 1, but I will ship all pre-orders as soon as the dice and boxes arrive. This Boxed Set Contains everything you need to play: * 6" x 9" Game Box (This is an actual game box manufactured for just this purpose) * Four Rule Booklets (Characters, Spells, Monsters, & Treasures) * A digest-sized copy of Matt Finch's, "Quick Primer for Old-School Gaming" * Ten of Marv Breig's 3" x 5" Index Card Character Sheets * Set of Polyhedral Dice * Pad of digest-sized Graph Paper * Pencil Each order will be shipped by Priority Mail and protected by layers of bubble wrap encased in a card board shipping box. All pre-orders will ship on or before February 1, 2010. As my way of thanking you for pre-ordering a WhiteBox Boxed Set (and since I'm keeping the Box's final cover art a secret until the official announcement) I'm reducing the price for each set by $5. On January 20, the price will go back up to $29.95. Here's the link for more details: bravehalflingpublishing.com/?cat=14

I ordered mine yesterday! Can't wait!
Do you think the print run will sell out at the pre-order stage? If I like this set I will probably want to buy a few more copies as gifts.

Great news! Apparently there was a little delay in my box maker fulling my order for the actual boxes for the WhiteBox Boxed Sets and I have been able to add 75 more boxes to the first print run! All of boxes are being created this week. Everything else for the boxed sets have arrived or already been created and are on hand just waiting for the boxes for assembling and shipping. So in every way, these additional 75 WB Boxed Sets will indeed be part of the first print run and completely identical to all the others that have already been pre-ordered. Since there were many people who did not get to pre-order the WB Boxed Sets during the 10 days they were available, I am going to immediately offer 50 more Boxed Sets at the same pre-order price of $25.95 each. With any luck, they should also ship with all the previous pre-orders on or before February 1. In addition (and in order to keep the promise I made on December 30, 2009) I will hold in reserve 25 WB Boxed Sets to be made available on January 20, 2010 – the actual release date for the WhiteBox Boxed Sets. However, when the last 25 boxed sets sell out, no more will be available until November 1, 2010. I hope this makes many gamers happy. It was never my intention to leave folks out of the first run of the boxed sets or disappoint anyone. They just sold better and faster than this hobby published thought they would and I was caught unprepared. With so many people emailing me wanting to be put on a waiting list for the next print run, I knew that I had to do something right now I do hope that everyone has as much fun gaming with their WB Boxed Set as I have had in putting them together. bravehalflingpublishing.com/

Good news, John. I got my order in, so now my family and gaming group won't hate me.
Imagine their wrath when I collected money and then had to tell them I was too slow in placing my order for my own game! :-D

According to the original post, we should be getting them soon.
And btw, the art that I can barely make out in those pictures is really exciting me!

Quick question, are the pencils generic, or will they have something game-related printed on them? If the former, shame shame! You should have them custom decorated for niftiness.

That would have raised the price of the boxed set. Plus, there's November, and will be clearly different than this first printing.

I would ask you how much extra room the box will have for additional booklets, but from the website I gather that they haven't come in yet.

Groovy. I'm sure one could squeeze a little extra space by taking out the graph paper and the primer.

Thought they were sold out? ! Best, The Bane They are indeed sold out. I'm still trying to find a way to release WB as a full-sized boxed set in game stores, but all off the box makers I've contacted consider 1000 units a small print run (which is about 700 too many). But I think I may have found a way to make each of them from scratch.
