Hi everyone, this is my first time on the boards.
Recently I DM'd my first S&W game, and houseruled in a saving throw method inspired by Castellani's Dangers and Dweomers. In this method, we treat the single saving throw as a base save, increased or decreased when combined with an ability mod. Thus, a fighter of Dex 18, when attempting to avoid a fireball or whatnot, would subtract his Dex bonus from his saving throw to give a lower target number. If his Dex was 6, he would add +1 instead. If the mod was zero, then the base save would be used. Thoughts?

Sounds reasonable to me, though it does reduce the abstraction of just what a 'saving throw' is.

Wouldn't it be a little easier to just add the ability modifier directly to the d20 roll? Otherwise, sounds good to me.
