How many times does a fighter attack in OD&D using the Chainmail system? When they say fights as three men does that mean he rolls and can possibly score three hits=three rolls of damage? I have an idea I think about this but I wanted to hear what consensus the forum had on this.

This is how I understand it, yes. It's the same as for monsters, per Volume II.
Note, however, that this states that it is 'versus normal men'. You could easily read that as the standard 'up to 1 HD'. Then you'd need to rate all the higher HD monsters on the Fantasy Combat Matrix, as combat with them would occur there.
Or, you could just allow all combat that isn't on the FCM to allow for multiple attacks, based on Fighting Capability or Hit Dice. That way, combat would indeed be 'fast and furious' as Volume III says it is!
I've never tried any of this, by the way, so this is all theoretical. But I'm leaning toward giving it a try, just to see how it goes.
