Yes, great thanks to Chgowiz, especially since the situation demanded him to make an unexpected speech!

Does anyone have video of Chgowiz's speech? I would love to see it. No, you wouldn't. I'm told I didn't make an idiot out of myself, but the story is this: I just buried my Dad that morning and had given a eulogy at the funeral in front of the family. We had just spent 6 days going through his final days and then the viewing and funeral, so we ran to GenCon to just get some time to kinda just get away from it. I got in Friday late afternoon, got the room, hooked up with Fat Dragon who I was going to work with on the S&W demo, then got dressed and went to the ENnies. A bunch of really cool RPG Bloggers gave me a condolence card which just really touched me, so my head was so not there. About 5 minutes before they announced the awards for Best Free Product, I sketched out some words to mention, just in case. Military training kicking in, always have a plan. I wanted to give a nod to Jerry Mapes, as they had a standing ovation for Dave at the start of the ceremony. I really didn't expect S&W to win, although it was a nice hope... ... so of course we win and my head spins. I remember walking up to the stage, really d**n nervous and just feeling this total surreality - like I was remembering walking up to the podium in the morning. I remember saying words about Jerry, I remember saying the word hobbyist at some point and I remember walking off the stage. There were a LOT of people in that audience. I'm told that my speech was short, quick and I looked nervous but didn't make an idiot out of myself or the OSR, so these are good things. I think Dad smiled that evening though. He was so excited when I showed him my artwork in the core rules and he was doubly excited about the publication of the Quick Start. He's the reason I got into reading, I got into fantasy and that I'm here today. So in a way, it's a fitting thing. But I really hope that video was never made. No offense meant. Just a personal wish.
