Mohammad is happy with the plan. He does suggest, " lets get a guard to escort us through the market. We don;t want to be breaking any town laws here."

All: You are free to move without escort in the Foreigner's Quarters, which is well partitioned from the rest of Ja'kalla by a great wall and a garrison of city watch.
((A map of the city will soon be yours to aid in your conception and navigation. I am drawing my own and will upload it when done)).
MI'KIMU-- For each Kaitar you have expended to seek street knowledge of Fi'ru, you may roll a d6 (3d6). I will roll a d6 and if any of your rolls match the d6 I roll it will be a favorable result in this endeavour. Of course you may try later if it fails. Also roll another d6 for your effort to locate work for your tribe.
N'RASA & MOHAMMED-- Pairing up, and seeking to find arms and armor, the two of you have the following encounter:
"The two companions do some asking about a suitable merchant to buy equipment, and are helped by a Pachi Lei.
This strange creature is black and green hued, having a large pear shaped body with a pineapple shaped head set with huge, almond shaped unblinking eyes, doughy skin, four arms and four legs.
The Pachi Lei, upon learning of your quest, says in Tsolyani, 'Ah yes. There are two armourers in the Quarters. One is the Sword of V'ri of Purd'imal, the other is named the Armoury of the Omniscient Eye of the Emperor.'
He gives the two of you directions to both.

N'Rasa was interested in getting armor, but her funds were limited...
"Please, sir," N'Rasa (as N'Ras) said to the Pachi Lei, "can you guide us to which armorer might be cheaper? Or are prices fixed between shops?"

Or are prices fixed between shops?" "Aye, lad" says the curious looking creature, one of its four hands rubbing what serves it as a chin while another wipes it's brow, the other two arms moving rythymically as if separate living creatures. "V'ri is better for price, not bad quality. The Emperor is better quality, higher prices, and the occasional steel weapon." He looks about, then says, "Some say Om'el, the Armorer and proprietor at the Emporer, is a spy for the Azure Legion, so say nothing untoward." (As a magic user, N'Rasa is able only to employ light leather armor and to use only a dagger as a weapon, by the terms of her profession)

Casting a watchful but inconspicuous glance about, you see nothing amiss. The immigrants and visitors in the Quarters all seem abustle with thier own business, except for a few indolent souls perched upon hostel steps, lost in the cup.

Is there anybody left for Balesh to team up with? If not, he will follow teh other two along to find arms and armor BALESH-- If you would stay with your companions you may join the priest and magic user in visiting an armourer or go with Mi'kimu the Warrior, who is scouting work for your tribesmen or at least your main party and also trying to see if he can locate Fi'ru, the hapless cut-purse you all met upon disembarking the boat.

MI'KIMU and BALESH-- You begin to explore the Foreigner's Quarter in search of employment and, perchance, news of Fi'ru the young would be cut-purse you met at the harbor, thinking perhaps to offer him something a little better.
Mi'kimu drops coin here and there as he goes, inquiring about such a lad. Many say they might have seen one fitting his description about the Quarter, but none have any knowledge of the name or the youth attached to it. A Pygmy Folk trader accepts two Kaitar and swears the boy will meet him at that very spot in an hour to pack goods for him-- yet when you return neither the trader nor Fi'ru is there and you realize it was a scam.
(GM Note: I rolled for Mi'kimu and at this time the warrior is unsuccessful in spite of his proffered Kaitars. He is only out 2 Kaitar as everyone else was honest. You may try again later).
Your quest for work is more fruitful. By end of day you have met a man of Ghaton, a filthy unwashed fellow who reeks of smoke-weed and wine-sweat, who works in the Quarter for The Clan of Flowering Life. He finds workers for them to aid in the making and repair of nets. He is willing to pay any able bodied workers of your tribe a Kaitar a week for doing this at a shop fitted for the task.
He gives you each a Kaitar to present them tomorrow at the warehouse.
THE LIV'YANI STRANGER!!!!!-- Once you, Mi'kimu and Balesh, finish with the Ghatoni, you turn and see a tall, muscular tatooed Liv'yani, obviously a warrior- his dark hair is tied in a knot on his head, he wears only sandals and trousers, and a large scimitar hangs at his side.
He has apparently been watching you for a minute because when you notice him he says
"Forgive me for saying so, but two warriors of the Southern Continent can find far better than a Kaitar a week here in the Lady of the Rivers, if they are willing to take chances in this game of the Gods."
He smiles as he says this. How do you answer him?

N'RASA AND MOHAMMED:
In your travels, Mohammed does not as yet see a any obvious brothel nor the symbol of Dakota's kidnapppers.
Following the Pachi Lei's directions, you wind your way through the busy lanes until you come to a long building with a door in it's center which faces out to the street.
Warriors of every description come and go, and you see the door seems to be gaurded by the most grotesque creature you have ever seen...picture a giant barrel made out of shaggy, matted hair wearing a hard chitinous carapace on its top, having four tri-clawed legs/feet, three arms, and...as it turns this way and that, three identically hideous faces around it's body.
Slobber drips from it's fanged mouths and pools on the deck of the Armory's porch.
As you walk by it, an overpowering stench of it's body odor and whatever terrible things it had for breakfast assaults your nostrils.
The creature belches and farts simultaneously as you pass into the Armory of Vri-- it grins at the two of you as it does. It wears a sword but it's free arm goes to scratching itself in unnameable places in a most revolting manner.
You enter a wide venue with many more gaurds and shoppers, seeing displays of finely crafted Chlen-hide weapons, dummies decked in various sorts of armor, bows, arrows, shields.
Behind a counter you see a Tsolyani man in his fifties, waiting on customers. Behind him is a door to an abvious shop where his assitants are at work on wares.
Over in one corner, posed in a manner as about to attack, you see a horrifying taxidermy of a six legged tailed beast with a long, oblong head bearing a freakishly long muzzle over which four black, insect like eyes glare.
It's maw is rimmed with rows of needle like teeth, it's skin is greyish colored, it's two hind legs look something like grasshopper legs, and it is some eight feet long and almost four feet high in it's back.
A steel sword sits upon a stand next to the horrid creature, which neither of you recognize.
What do you do?

[OOC — thanks for rolling for Mi'kumu, I've had a busy week!]
I don't think Mi'kumu would accept a single coin per week for the skilled labor of each of his compatriots. However, it's not really his call to make, and without other sources of income, they're in a bind. So, he'll accept the Kaitar and see if his clan-members are willing to accept the offer. He'll return the coin if not.
Mi'kumu is disappointed that his spent Kaitars failed to locate the waif Fi'ru. He'll spend 2 more.
But then he is approached by the Liv'yani. He understands there is a suggestion of gladiatorial combat. He responds clumsily but with caution. "This game of your Gods, how is she played? I play with my life, yes?"

He understands there is a suggestion of gladiatorial combat. He responds clumsily but with caution. "This game of your Gods, how is she played? I play with my life, yes?" MI'KIMU and BALESH: The extra effort pays off for Mi'Kimu. Just before being approached by the Livyani warrior, he speaks with a Salarvyani woman selling woven mats at a stall on the street. "Yes, she says. "I know the boy of whom you speak. Fi'ru is an orphan, I sometimes give him food. He plays a dangerous game by sneaking to and from the docks by pretending to be a part of groups that come and go to and from this district. He sleeps at night in the pens of a keeper of H'mylu beasts, one D'rish, who pays him a copper per week to clean the pens." She gives you directions and blesses you in Avanthe's name. It is shortly after this you meet with the Livyani. He responds to you and Balesh. "It is easy to see by your dress and hue that you are of Nuroab. I have been there, La! What a cauldron! But the jungle and it's rivers are beautiful, if deadly. No, warrior, I speak not of the Hirilakte Arena where duels are settled, and contests to the death are fought for the joy of the masses, though I deem both of you might do well there and raise your fortunes considerably. Some would buy your armor and weapons for you as payment for your first match, steel even. If you make them money, they'll treat you even better. The game I speak of is our lives! What are we if not Den Den pieces on the playing mat of the Gods? But enough of my playing philosopher - I am Karunaz. I serve a certain noble, one Vrimeshtu hiChaimanor, an elder of the Clan of the Dark Flame of Jakalla. He has sent me to these precincts this day to seek capable agents for an enterprise he is planning. He pays me well and trusts my judgement- and I trust the Shadow Gods. When I laid eyes on you a second time, something told me you and your friends might be what Vrimeshtu seeks...yes, I passed your entire group upon the Bridge of the Eternal Splendor of the Gods yesterday. And now we meet again. My master has an undertaking which will require the skills of your like-- that you are strangers to our city is even better as he wishes his venture to be unknown. It would be most dangerous, but your fortunes and prospects in this land might be upped considerably. Are you interested?"

"What is this thing called?" she asked (in her N'Ras voice) to any guard nearby. N'RASA AND MOHOMMAD: The Priest of Qon asks of equipment and V'ri, the owner, asks what you seek specifically. "If we don't have it," he says, "You don't want it!" N'rasa is answered by a huge Tsolyani warrior. "That, boy, is a Zrn'e. Master Vri killed it himself when he was but seventeen with the very sword you see displayed. They are terrible-- they can be quiet as still water when stalking in the brush and leap higher than a man's head and twice as far as he is long. Arrows fall away from it's hide like Chri flies, and you see those teeth? They detach once embedded in your flesh and the poison inside them can kill you in minutes if you don't remove them quickly, to say nothing of the power of it's jaws. They infest the flatlands east of the city. This particular one has a strange mark under it's body which resembles a snake. When Master Vri's father's hunting party was attacked and his father wounded by this beast, he took up his father's sword and bravely fought. But it was not his skill but strange chance that saved him-- he fell upon the ground as the beast leaped at him, and it landed upon his blade. As it did, its black blood spouted upon him and he saw the creature's mark. He took it as a sign that Sarku preserved him for some destiny and he has been a devoted member of that Temple ever since."

((Oho! Plotting against me, I see. Interparty intrigue!))
N'Ras asked the huge Tsolyani warrior: "Is Master Vri here? I would like to congratulate him myself on his accomplishment."
N'Rasa wanted leather armor, but was a little too cash-poor for it. Her hope was to lavish praise on Master Vri and then try to get a half-off discount. Or perhaps the store had a poorly cured set it would let go of for 15 kaitars (even if it only afforded AC 8)...

For this information about Fi'ru, Mi'kímu thanks the market-woman with the traditional Nuroabi arm embrace. He will endeavor to locate this "D'rish" and then speak to the boy, who seems in need of a guide on this strange path called life.
But first ...
Speaking to Karunaz, Mi'kímu says, "Your patron Vrimeshtu — propriety suggests we no longer utter this name. But I would hear more of this enterprise! I have as of late no taste for personal glory in the arena, but I would gladly entertain an opportunity to bring good fortune to my tribe — you suggest such a prospect! How many hands do you require? I can gather them."

N'RASA AND MOHAMMED:
In your exchanges with eachother, Master Vri and the big guard in the armory, the following happens:
The guard hears Mohammad's pointed comment about "she" and looks puzzled for a moment. He becomes a bit more studious of her appearance, grins and shrugs.
THE GUARD: "A guise perhaps, or but a jest of your companion? No matter; we know the ways of Outlanders are different but here in the Foriegner's Quarters so long as you break no law no one will care much, unless you run into a staunchly traditional Ghatoni man. Of course the declaration of Aridani is here respected from any land."
MASTER VRI: "Fine, my friend. I've several finely tanned suits of Vrin'galu hide armor to fit you both- The Flying Snake has a tough but supple skin that is comfortable to wear and they are finely crafted by my workers. Well worth the protection they afford.
9 Kaitar for a suit of Vri's leather armor, 8 Kaitar for a Mace 11 Kaitar for a Shield, 6 Kaitar for a dagger.
Note: Either of you may bargain with Vri, I will use the reaction table is you do, a very poor result might bring offense. N'rasa's high Comliness is somewhat concealed but Mohammad's will bring him a +10% bonus, since he speaks excellent Tsolyani as a learned priest.
MASTER VRI (Again)TO N'RASA: "I heard your remark. The credit must belong to the Five Headed Lord, whose image that Zrne was born with, that I might know in one instant the contemplation of death that some wait years for. Sarku is of the Darkness, but there is some light which can never be seen. See that shrine in the corner- the portrait miniature of the beautiful woman is of my wife, and that skullfaced carven figure draped in grave clothes and holding a copper dagger and a serpent is an aspect of our Great Mitlan, Sarku. I encourage you to visit his Temple--though my wife has been dead for eight years, I see her each week, and by the Worm's power we are not separated."
