I resurrected my Wizardawn site, cleaned up the code to work with the newest PHP, and had to put a method in so web crawlers weren't taxing the database anymore when they scan the site. My first thought was to do user accounts to avoid the robots crawling over the site...but that is a pain in the ass to sign up for something else. Instead, I came up with a front page where you have to answer a single question to get in and use it. WizardawnThe code cleanup also didn't just make it work for newer web standards, but it did show me a few true errors in the code that I missed long ago.

Wonderful to see you back! Will there be any new materials that you will be posting?
Are you still in the upper Midwest?
We have a local convention here in Appleton now, coming up the second weekend in July. PhoenixCon. Dan and I have a booth.
Would be great to see you there!

I might port the apps I made on osricrpg.com, as I have OD&D generators there and an AD&D/OSRIC character generator that does more things. You and Dan are still in Appleton? It has been years since I saw you guys...and last I heard Dan moved to New York, things didn't work out, and moved back to Appleton. I think he even got his old job back. I thought you moved out east. I am about an hour away at the moment...but might migrate up north a bit where it is maybe 90 minutes away. There is a better IT Manager position I am negotiating with.

Yep, I moved out East for a year, then moved back, same as Dan. We were just talking about that the other day. Weird but fortunate coincidence. An hour makes for an easy day trip for the convention. Or even a Saturday game session, though we still aren't gaming in person yet (Chimera has not yet reopened the game rooms for RPGs, only card tournaments). Here's the link for Phoenix Con: www.phoenixgamecon.com/

Now this is cool! You could stack all the classic OSR commentary & culture blogs together, even the ones I liked reading, and I'd rather keep Wizardawn if I had to choose. Really glad to see it back. Time to bust out the old AD&D solo campaign notebook!

I finally solved the Wizardawn "export maps to images" problem I had for years. So the buttons are back to export generated maps to a single image. Below are some maps I tested this on. I only tested this on Edge, Chrome, and Safari (Safari on a Mac). It all seemed to work just fine. World of ZendynnDungeon MapDungeon Delve

Is it my imagination, or did there used to be a feature that combined the vertical layout with horizontal dungeon maps? (And, wow, thanks! I am really glad to see this site return…although my players want a word with you about the frequency of armoires. )
