I'm glad to see the Troll Lords doing this. C&C is a version of A/D&D with Gary's Official Seal of Approval. And it's a great buy for $79.99. You get the two essential rulebooks (in hardback), plus a module. Taking inflation into account, that comes to $22.80 in 1980 dollars. Imagine in 1980 being able to buy the Monster Manual, the Players Handbook, and module B2 for a total of $22.80 (rather than $12 + $12 + $6 = $30).

And unlike AD&D, you don't need the DMG to run the game. The module they include is a good size sandbox and one can get a lot of mileage out of it. It has been expanded over the years to include quite a bit of material. EDIT- forgot to add that in AD&D terms, the current print of M&T is equivalent to getting the MM, the best from the FF, the best from MM2, and the treasure/magic items section from the DMG.
