So, one of my players really wants to play a female Goblin.
I'm easy, no problem.
So it will be a Goblin Thief of 4th Level.
I took the racial Thief skill modifiers from Hobbit and Orc selecting the mid-point, usually rounding in favour of the Goblin.
Granted Darkvision (or I usually offer that these races can have Darkvision or Infravision) and that the negative to attack in direct sunlight is nullified at 5th level.
I gave no modifiers to attribute rolls.
I warned the player of the prejudice the Goblin will likely receive.
Did I miss anything or do something you think differently about?
The group generally contains an Amazon, Cyclopean, Human and used to have a Lizard-Folk (he was eaten by a giant lizard). I guess we used to have a Dwarf too.

I'd probably leave the choice to the player, if their goblin would retain their old ways and keep both Darkvision and the malus to attacks in sunlight, or get rid of both and get used to being active in daylight. I feels a little powerful if they get the best of both worlds, but that might work totally fine in your group.

I was assigned to play a female goblin in a game of Thieves Guild at Gencon81. There was a hippy playing a Uruk hai at the table, but he played it like a female goblin, and I wasn't about to play the female goblin as that slayer. TPK! Not my favorite game. Oh well.

I remember a Dragon #141 article that let you play orcs, goblins, and kobolds as PCs in AD&D. The title is "Hey, Wanna Be a Kobold?"

I warned the player of the prejudice the Goblin will likely receive. Found somewhere on a OSR blog (can't remember where) a good idea of background : "You're an exceptionnaly good looking goblin managing to pass for a unusually ugly Halfling".
