Aasimar

Starting a new 5E campaign and one of my players is interested in playing an Aasimar. I'm not thrilled because I prefer to keep things more human/elf/dwarf/halfling standard, but on the other hand I hate to deny him the chance to run something unusual if that's what he really wants.
My problem is that I know almost zero about Aasimar. I know they are angelic and that flight is a part of the race.
What issues am I going to run into? What kinds of things will be a problem? Any suggestions on how to let him play this race without encountering those issues?

Since when do Aasimar have wings? This is my mental image of the race:

My Greyhawk 5e campaign had an Aasimar paladin, they're functionally not that different to humans except a few "special effects" abilities. They don't have a flying speed, so they're not an issue in that sense (unlike Aarakocra, who I wouldn't allow again as a PC race because they have a high flying speed that messes with a lot of things).

I think Fin is confusing Aasimar with Aarakocra. The latter are the bird people. The former are half-angels or people who had an angel or celestial ancestor. They're like the flip side of the coin from Tieflings. I think there's a high level Paladin ability in 5e where they grow wings for a few rounds, maybe? Is that what the player had in mind? I'm almost 100% sure it's not part of the normal abilities Aasimar get, but I haven't done anything with 5e for like three years now.

I think Fin is confusing Aasimar with Aarakocra. That's what I think, too. Aasimar aren't a big thing to have in the group. They get a spell-like ability*, some resistance vs Necrotic iirc, and some ability boosts as any other race. * The Protector sub-race get the ability to grow wings at 3rd level, but only for 1 minute and only once per long rest. (see Volo's Guide to Monsters)
