Two things jump out at me about these original “Conversion Notes” from Arms Law (second printing of the first edition, I believe): This is interesting because overall the gist of this section is to allow you to use Arms Law with AD&D (this was before there was a full Rolemaster ruleset). But the reference to the strength table from Greyhawk: Supplement I is interesting because it indicates vestigial use of OD&D. Not sure what they had in mind for Dex, but since elsewhere in the rules there is a reference to Dex modifiers going up to +35, they seem to be already using the RM Stat Table which eventually got published (where a Dex of 102+ gives a bonus of +35), so I reverse-engineered that part. So here’s what I make of it. 3-18 Stat | 1-100 Stat | Str Bonus on D20 | Str Bonus on D100 | Dex Bonus on D20 | Dex Bonus on D100 | 3 | 20 | -2 | -10 | -1 | -5 | 4 | 25 | -2 | -10 | 0 | 0 | 5-6 | 30-35 | -1 | -5 | 0 | 0 | 7-12 | 40-65 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 13 | 70 | +1 | +5 | 0 | 0 | 14-16 | 75-85 | +1 | +5 | +1 | +5 | 17 | 90 | +2 | +10 | +2 | +10 | 18 | 95 | +2 | +10 | +3 | +15 |
I’m not super familiar with Rolemaster, so I could be misinterpreting a great deal. However, the Dex bonus actually seems to line up with AD&D Reaction/Attacking Adjustment, at least the positive modifiers.
Sorry this is hastily written and disorganized, but basically I am working on trying to reverse-engineer RM’s D&D roots.
