One thing that is a must-have for me in any gaming world is a calendar. The Lord of the Rings, of course, has a whole Appendix about this; but for gaming purposes, a default must be presented in a straight-forward, worked-out and gameable manner. None of the Tolkien RPGs do this. Here, then, are two options. One is the Númenórean Calendar as used by the Dúnedain of Arthedain in T.A. 1640 — so, Sindarin rather than Quenya names where possible, and King’s Reckoning rather than later revised calendars. ICE used this in its first module, Angmar, and seems to have defaulted to it thereafter. The second is the calendar used by the Northmen of Rhovanion, said in the Appendix to be akin to that used by the Hobbits; this has been gamely supplied by ICE’s Lake-town.
