Matt Colville, an RPG author/creator/designer that's quite popular on Youtube, also did this with all early edition exploring the books as he went. Was interesting even if I don't agree with him 100%.

He seems to not fully grok what early D&D was about and has the mentality that stuff was less complete or missing back then. It's a common sentiment, and one reason I see people trying to house rule or modify OSR rules as soon as they come across them without finding out the intention behind them. His pal Jim on the other hand has the right spirit.

His pal Jim on the other hand has the right spirit. Agreed. He does put emphasis on very important aspect of old school game even if he seems to pregnant dog on them however, which is strange. For example: importance of exploration, emerging/player driven goals, importance of magic items as a character's customization (he's big on this), etc.
