I find fora a little bewildering despite having used them extensively back when they were at their high point. I think it's know "where to start" when looking at the huge wall of texts and posts. But this place looks well organized. |

All good, Mods not following the rules tsk tsk Is there a mod rule? I'm pretty sure if I approve someone I don't think to check in all of the time.  I find fora a little bewildering despite having used them extensively back when they were at their high point. I think it's know "where to start" when looking at the huge wall of texts and posts. Interesting. For me I find that places like Facebook are a challenge because you might see something one day and it's gone later. I had trouble like that at the old Trollhalla run by Ken St.Andre, where cool ideas would fall off the front page never to be found again. Places like this are fun to root around in because you can find conversations from long ago and just hop right back into them. I guess that's why they have different types of places. Each can find a comfort zone and hang out there. |

People follow/add you or they don't. A forum is a collective of members and you engage with the group in topical threads rather than broadcasting your self/brand. It's actually a really big difference. Say I'm painting an old lead mini and I want to show it off. On a social media platform, I just make a post with a pic. Here I have to hunt down the appropriate thread and put the post in context. Fora keep things structured for future retrieval better as a result, but are sometimes kind of a pain. |
