Athanatocracy -- rule by the undead (I know, I know, there's no Greek word for 'undead'. Just roll with it!) I like it. Only people without a personal stake in the outcome of the decision-making process can vote. Pure objectivity!

Only people without a personal stake in the outcome of the decision-making process can vote. Pure objectivity! A society in a remote, desolate, gloomy place ruled by (at least one) Lich is not at all far-fetched for a D&D campaign. Or maybe it's a council of zombies. Or a clandestine vampire mafia/illuminati that pulls all the strings in a de-mock-racy.

Gentlemen, who will adapt "Les Mis", as a "4th Age Middle Earth" campaign set in Minas Tirith, for me? Yeah, that's right: f**k off, Eldarion! #gondorneedsnoking #aragornmurderedboromir Seriously, once you picture Gavroche as a Hobbit, thing will get difficult to unsee.

By the hoary hosts of Hoggoth I cast: Resurrect Thread!
So I was reading an interview with the author of Hillbilly Elegy, apparently he is running for congress. He mentioned that only those with children should be allowed to vote because they have a real stake in the future. This isn't about the merits of that idea, but it did make me wonder what you'd call a political system only parents are allowed to participate in. Parentocracy? What would the greek translation be? Mitrikracy?

I remember the movie Idiocracy had a similar premise, but not exact. In that story, the dumb people outbred everyone else over multiple generations. Some say it was an accidental documentary.

Mitrikracy? The words that mean "parent" in Greek include γονεύς (goneus) and γεννήτωρ (gennetor). So you could have goneocracy or gennetocracy - I think the latter would make more sense to the ear of English speakers who know the term "progenitor" or the term "genetics". Both have meanings involving "birth" in a physical sense; γεννήτωρ is from the same root as γεννηθέντα in the Nicene Creed, which is typically translated as "begotten." γονεύς is the same root we get the word "gonads" from.

Paidocracy. Rule by children. (I was going to say Teknocracy, but that's too similar to Technocracy) Gerontocracy. Rule by the senile. Kallitéchnocracy. Rule by artists. Yes, my Greek is terrible, I'm using Google translate.

Right?
