Back when fifty cents would buy you a cup of coffee, D&D was ten dollars a set. HERE is a list of some other favorites from the days of yore. This price list comes courtesy of the mail order arm of the Spartan International war gaming club. Their associated retail store, The War House, still operates in Long Beach, CA. Take note of some of D&D's competition. These are the prices of games sold October 1976. Consider that, right now, you can instantly download the same D&D books from DrivethruRPG (supplements, too) for the same price as when it was released. Nay, one penny cheaper!

Thanks for posting! Neat to see stuff like the Spartan Warlock ($3.00, "Complete D&D Variant" - a bit misleading as it lacks monsters and magic items) and "Dungeon of the Vampire Queen" ($3.50) listed alongside D&D.

Betcha wish you could have paid $3 for it. Thanks, Zen.

One of my best memories is from wandering into the back room at a local FLGS and finding a bunch of boxes from Balboa's old stock, at original list price.
