Plz not to "linkdrop", brother.
Write something more than just "hey, look, I just found this".
What's the context of this video, for example? Is LOTRO arriving in the 4th age, then? Is LOTRO heading towards its end?

Sorry, I didn't know link dropping was not allowed. The wedding is a new feature for LOTRO to celebrate Midsummer. I believe it will be a yearly event. I linked it because this is the first time it has been added.

I thought LOTRO was just a video game. How do they have events? Is it like those "Living Greyhawk" campaigns of the past (about which I don't know anything, either)?

I've never done the Living Greyhawk thing, so I wouldn't know about that.
LOTRO is an MMO. So while there is a storyline, you have other things to do. Me, I just do my own thing for the most part and ignore the storyline. That worked against me in this instance. Since I hadn't completed a certain quest, I couldn't get into the main feasting hall. I also missed the wedding, but I suspect it will be replayed until July 20.
There are seasonal festivals. The Spring Festival was done again, and the summer festival will be done in August. This one is new, probably to give new life to the game, which is about a dozen years old. Bilbo and Frodo's birthday was moved up from September, probably to honor Ian Holm.
Fairly new to MMOs myself; I only did this because of the COVID-19 lockdown. Not sure if I'll continue after we reopen. I have opted to keep working online for personal reasons.

Generally in an MMO game an "event" is a time-sensitive collection of various types of content. There's generally new items to be collected, like new mounts, new weapons and armor and miscellaneous items tied in with the theme of the event, but there's cutscenes and little changes to the game world as well, like for instance a Halloween themed event in an MMO would have Jack-O-Lanterns added to the porches of all the inns and little houses in the in-game towns, and probably some spooky themed apparel to collect. I don't play a lot of LOTRO any more but I can imagine there'd be wedding themed apparel and things like bouquets added here.

I finally figured out how to attend the wedding. I got to meet the entire Fellowship as well. My one complaint is that the program doesn't let the player characters join in the celebrations around the city, so to speak. Even the taverns won't sell us booze, which they normally do. I had to bring my own supply.

Not "seriously", at all. Probably "seriously" because I tend to drink too much beer at weddings.

Silly me! I'm more of a wine drinker myself.
