Just wanted to say thanks for being here, folks. I'm in a place with this overriding panic and fear, and shutting down our entire society, I need a community of people to just talk with and enjoy some normalcy. Facebook has become a cesspool of groupthink and "not with us/against us" conformity. I walked away from it last week, only leaving my account open because of my game design discussion groups.
It's nice to know there is a community here where people are still celebrating something and upholding some sense of relative normalcy with respect and good cheer.
That's pretty much all. Just a kudos to everyone here.

I hear you. I've been out shopping basic food supplies twice today because many places have been bought pretty much empty. Folks are panicking and the voices of reason are drowning in the yells of the mob.
Talking about our usual topics here and in other forums is pretty much the only normal social thing now, I agree.

Yeah, I feel sort of like a character in a Zombie Apocalypse movie. Folks at the store are often just wandering around aimlessly looking for something to put into a cart, like 20 boxes of Mac & Cheese or something like that. Yikes. I haven't seem real panic or villagers with pitchforks, but it's been really quiet and eerie. Hopefully chatter here will pick up because everyone is at home and is bored.

I spoke to both of my gaming groups when they started shutting down society and we are all agreed that we trust each other and it's going to be business as usual. If someone feels remotely ill they don't come to gaming. Otherwise we meet as standard. We all need some sort of actual interpersonal contact and sense of normalcy in our lives.

I went out last week in the wee, pre-dawn hours to avoid the crowds and went to the local big box store to stock up (reasonably, mind you) on essentials, only to find that the two-legged locusts had already struck, denuding most shelves of anything of worth, esp. toilet paper, cleaning agents, hand purifier, soap, rubbing alcohol, latex gloves, masks and many kinds of foods. Fortunately I don't think I've got any symptoms, but I do have the strangest craving for BRAAAAAIIINNSSS!!

Yes. To not show up if you think you might be ill, and unreasonably risk infecting the rest of us. That being said, I *really* don't want to get into a self-quarantine debate here. That will instantly sour the entire point of this thread. Hopefully that wasn't your intent, though, and I just misread you.

thegreyelf: you're one of the reasons I'm here. Love your games and the work you've done in the OSR.
I'm glad this place is here.

Agreed. Jason's games (Amazing Adventures, Night Shift, etc.) are always fun and I enjoy his perspective on gaming in general. We have a lot of insightful posters and that's part of what makes this place special. Plus, we work hard to keep the jerks out and instead try to promote a positive atmosphere. I'm pretty proud of our little corner of the interwebs.
