Aloha! I am trying to get some visualization for Lunar soldiers. They seem to be largely along Greek/Roman lines. However, I have a few specifics about which I am looking for confirmation: 1) they use spears and curved swords similar to scimitars 2) they use round shields smaller than that of the traditional Greek warriors, with a boss in the middle rather than smooth-surfaced. 3) they have mixed weapons within a unit, some with spear, some with sword, some with both. Am I on the right track? I want some input before I start building my miniatures Thank you for any and all input.

The Lunar units aren't all that uniform, but then most pre-industrial armies in the real world aren't nearly as uniform as we tend to picture them.
Yes, your description would be a good place to start. What are you doing for miniatures? I just ran an old school RQ2 campaign for my group, and painted up a bunch of mini's (many Glorantha specific) before running that game.
Btw, one thing to do is to paint armor and weapons as bronze, since iron is very rare in Glorantha.

rms, I have no idea how I missed your reply for two weeks! Anyway, I went with Wargames Factory plastic Heavy Greek Hoplites, gave them curved swords, and egyotian-style shields. Since that rough draft, I have added a boss to the shield, built several more of these guys, and am now in the painting process. I appreciate your input, and am glad I managed to get close to the canon

I don't check in here all that often and it's been a very busy summer. That looks good to me. Post pics when you paint them. I'll try to remember to take some pics of Glorantha mini's and put them up here.

The cover of RQ1/RQ2 and some of the interior art shows the Lunar soldier "look".
