"By Quetzalcoatl's feathers!" cries Tlaloc, "it was my intention to befriend that beast: one can get a great deal done with trained apes. But we may be forced to melee. Those of you who may employ daggers should see if you can thrust them into the creature's breast––a larger weapon might not do."
"I have some skill in the magical arts. Let me try." Eltazar will cast Charm Person on the ape.
Interesting, I had never considered this, but it seems reasonable... The spell seems successful, how do you want to try and communicate with the ape and your desire that it leave the poor cloaked fellow alone?

"I am Lobe the magic user", says the wizard. "I've been wandering lost without a map; then that massive primate got hold of me. I was in bad straits until you came along. I am both at your service and in it for the loot!"
How would it play differently if it were the case? My last campaign was in 2019; Greyhawk, N1, T1, now heading to the Temple of Elemental Evil Starting 5/24/20: Sailors on a Starless Sea DCC campaign

As long as it's the flesh of our enemies, I'm fine with it! Anyone have reservations about freeing this thing? I figure as long as Eltazar keeps it under his care, the charm should hold for days upon days.

Quasmus confers sotto voce with Orofer in the magical Elvish tongue ... "I would hesitate to commend our goblin friend to the alimentation of yonder ape, if only because said goblin is a quasi-reliable source of information about this locale and its denizens. Surely we can leverage both their appetites to our advantage."
