Imagine a technology driven by intelligent slime. You feed it people (criminals, the elderly, the indolent, the inconvenient) and it makes your plants grow, it powers your city, it creates fuel, building material, perhaps superpowers or magic ability or psionic ability.
You can also throw in garbage and industrial waste and it recycles it. You could grow different kinds for different purposes.

Nice! It reminds me of Sogo the Wicked, from Barbarella, which is a city that is powered by an evil ooze that feeds off human-suffering. I can see a lot going for the Amoeboid Gods idea for Carcosa! I can totally imagine them: - Creating bioluminescent pods that provide local lighting.
- Creating mind-control pods that can be attached to the body (the heads, neck or back) of people and animals to control them, but they would be, more or less, in a mindless stupor.
- Providing food that not just provides nourishment, but is also narcotic that keeps the people loyal though drug-dependency.
- Creating drugs to control birth-rates, like contraceptives (to lower it) and sexual stimulators (to raise it)
- And other things to micromanage the population.
- Oh, and some weird thing or demand that highlights the alien nature and thinking of intelligent slime.

I can't figure out how to post images Existing examples are from Star Trek, the black goo that attacked Tasha Yarr and the Changeling race from which Odo was a representative. Heavy Metal had Uhlatec, to whom a human sacrifice was about to be offered for some unknown reward. Abhoth from Lovecraft was a pond of plasm that generated beings of great variety. A breeding pit of monsters. Who knows if those things eat. Who knows where they draw the biological blueprints from. There are pools of telepathic slime referenced in the core book but not their personalities or demands. A d10 table of slime personalities would be good. They have demands and incentives.

A whole tribe of cultists could be sustained by it's manna, repeating it's maxims, elevating hierophants from their numbers who speak on it's behalf. And people could become enhanced. Swollen muscles, toothy mouths, reflective eyes, flesh darts, rough coral-like skin And these would be guardians or enforcers or perhaps that's what it does to.every foolish creature who wanders in.
As variable as the well water of osr dungeons.
