You are able to pull up information on his arrival from star port records, you definitely also do not find record of his departure. You don't find any other public information. You could have the professor hack the world's computer system to look for more information. OOC: Well, now *that's* a good idea! "Hey Prof!" Logan says when he tracks Professor Duhr down on the ship, "Will you try to hack into the local datanet and see if you can find any entries on Pablo hault-Sergione? Any other input before I run this (since a hacking attempt gone bad could have consequences...)?

Any other input before I run this (since a hacking attempt gone bad could have consequences...)? Other than "Be careful and don't get caught.", no. :-) Well, I thought maybe the co-captains should have a chance to weigh in... :-) Partly I just want to make sure we have good multiple player engagement...

Any other input before I run this (since a hacking attempt gone bad could have consequences...)? ooc: what the heck? Let's roll the dice and see what happens. [OOC: Sorry if that came off wrong, I want to keep the game rolling, but also want to make sure multiple players are involved]Albert Durh will be happy to try and hack into the system. Computer roll 7 + 3 = 10. There is indeed record of Pablo. He was given permission to explore outside the main settlements and departed in an ATV with a driver/guide and two assistants. There is no record of his return. There is a note in the file that they didn't expect him to find anything of interest. The record seems unusually sterile. Considering your understanding of the theocratic government here it is likely they didn't want to call attention to Pablo and what he seemed to be seeking.

Scout base is orbital, with several docking ports and one service bay. The Scout base is basically an XBoat station from here: travellerrpgblog.blogspot.com/2017/02/traveller-15mm-deck-plan-collection.html docked with an X-Boat Tender www.mu.org/~joe/traveller/archive/deckplans/Xboat_Tender.GIFEach docking port is a large air lock which opens up to the lounge. The xboat tender is docked to one of the xboat station ports, leaving three for general use. There is one Type-S scout docked currently. Cool thing I checked out, the xboat tender's bay is of sufficient dimension to hold a Type KS Safari Scout (your ship)... NOTE: I DO NOT use the xboat itself, but the tender and station look just fine to me... OOC: Ahh, my bad; I assumed it was dirt-side. I guess Sharron will hang out in the lounge and "network" while keeping an eye on the Vargr disembarking. Maybe you mentioned this elsewhere, but do you have a formal communication network in place of the OTU X-boat service, or is it just a chartered mail/message system? (PS) Oh, and a belated "hack away!"...

The Scout and Navy services operate couriers. The big key is there isn’t a formal X-boat service and formal communication routes. The most reliable communications follow the space lanes. Merchant ships also carry communications.
This part of the Imperium does have regular scheduled subsidized merchant runs (and I’ve modified the encounter charts so they actually make sense).

Hmm, we've stalled out again... Maybe things will pick up after Labor Day?

Hmm, we've stalled out again... Maybe things will pick up after Labor Day? Maybe. In any case, Zeb will join anyone meeting the Vargr. He will bring his pistol just to be safe.

Ok, invitation is sent to the Vargr ship which agrees to meet you at the Scout Base.
The base commander invites you all to a meeting in the meeting room of the X-Boat Station part of the Scout Base. There is room for 10 comfortably. The base commandant and an aide will represent the base (with two security men standing). The Vargr captain and his 1st mate will join. Who from your crew wishes to be in the meeting room?

I think Logan is busy looking for information about Pablo hault-Sergiones on the local data-net, but if he's not too busy, he'd like to be in the meeting room. I'll leave that to the Ref's call.

Zeb would like to join in if there's room. Otherwise he'll socialize with the station's crew/staff and get a feel for how things work around here. Maybe he can get more details on the daily goings-on in Bastinadi.

You all join the Vargr captain Narou and his first mate in the meeting room with the base commandant and aide. Introductions happen. The Vargr speak broken Imperial Anglic.
They have been world hopping around the edge of the rift, they are interested in exploring trade opportunities with the Imperium. They apparently are from to the "East" of Trade Post. The last time one of their ships ventured into the Imperium was over 100 years ago.

Is there anything you hope to find out from the Vargr? Anything else you hope to find from the base?
Let's wrap this up and get down on world where I assume you will resume the hunt for Janet and Pablo.

Henry stays with the ship, tending to routine matters.
He's all for socialization, but only when his work has been done.

Let's see if there is any way we can help them, with knowledge or otherwise. Put on a super friendly and helpful front

Not hearing anything specific, I'll assume you wrap up the conversation. The Vargr shares a few tidbits:
Taphos has a frustrating bureaucracy. They charge twice as much for just about everything. They even change for permits to scoop the gas giant.
Boekoeia is inhabited by a non-human sophont (I'll come up with some details if you want more info). This does check out with your library data (the world had been an Imperial world until recently.
They just cruised through Magain, scooping from the gas giant and not visiting the world at all.
Any other preparations before landing at Bastinadi star port?

I’d like to ask them if they have run into anything unusual or troublesome with a few parsecs. They just shared what they ran into in the last 3 systems they came through on their way here... They will also share some about the polity they came through before that, but I haven't really worked up details of it yet...

We thank them, then head back to the ship. Jack says "OK boys and girls, how should we approach this. Can't just say 'Are you holding people hostage here and brainwashing them??'"
