Some of us buy regularly on lulu.
Is there a discount % point that you usually wait for to order stuff? I'm at about 20 or 25% unless I really want something which is rare lately.
How do you typically find out about the discount codes? I usually hear about them via google + streams

Yeah, free shipping is usually the best deal, unless you're ordering a large quantity of books.

Yeah, free shipping is usually the best deal, unless you're ordering a large quantity of books. It may depend on one's location and how many books they order but I wonder the correlation between say a 20% discount vs free shipping. Which is more impactful. It seems obvious that the pricing strategy lulu uses is to bloat the standard price and go from there with word of mouth discounts.

I always wait for free shipping, then combine with a discount if there is one. Sometimes discounts work together with free shipping even though the site says they don't. You need to try applying one first, or the other, because the order in which you type them in matters.

It seems obvious that the pricing strategy lulu uses is to bloat the standard price and go from there with word of mouth discounts. I typically only order one or two books at a time, so free shipping usually works out to be at least a few dollars cheaper than a 20-25% discount. I'm not sure how Lulu's shipping costs scale, but if you were to order, say, 10 books then a 20% discount might be better than free shipping.

The folks at this forum are good about posting Lulu discounts when a new product is released, and I unusually use their codes in the order. Otherwise, I used sites like RetailMeNot and Coupon Follow before. It is a bit of a crap-shoot as you don't know when their codes will expire, or if it will work. There are blinds that cover the codes, but they can be easily bypassed.

Don't forget that you can add your items to cart, leave them there, then wait for Lulu to send you a 25% off coupon after a few hours. I've successfully used that trick at least three times when I haven't found a better coupon.
As for the free shipping coupon, I've found it to be better than 25% off only five times out of sixteen print orders placed.

For RPGnow, how often do they have sales? Anyone know?
I have something I want to buy from there, but don't want it enough to pay full price + shipping.

Lulu is the best for me, as shipping to brazil often costs more than the product

I'm an idiot who buys stuff when I want stuff instead of waiting for a coupon.

I almost always try to wait for the November sales at Black Friday/Cyber Monday to maximize the discount.
