Any body here played Dungeon Saga? I'm picking up the Core Set- Dwarf King's Quest and the Adventurer's Companion for my son for Christmas.
Looks like a fun twist between a miniatures dungeon crawl with elements of roleplay. I watched a couple youtube reviews and I was sold. Kinda like Heroquest with tiles.

I'd never heard of this game. Looks pretty darned cool, so I'm sure your son (and you!) will enjoy it! It kind of evokes for me Dungeon or Talisman, both fun games. I picked up the Dragon Age RPG from Green Ronin for my son for Christmas. He'd expressed interest in it (he's played the video games religiously) and looking at the free quick start rules it looks very light and fun. Here's to hoping Santa gets us something just as sweet for the Holiday!

Let's not fool ourselves. When we say we bought these for our son's, we really mean we bought these for ourselves I'll try to revisit this thread after the holidays with my impressions of the game.

Up'ing this one, because I have been pondering whether to buy this one. What would you guys say? Recommendable? Motivating to replay on the long term?

Well, @rafael , I bought the game. In fact, I bought all the expansions because I'm somewhat of a completist. But, I have yet to finish running the Dwarf King's Quest. My son and I are about half way through. We pick it up and run a scenario, then we might not pick it up again for awhile. A session runs about an hour with set up. The rules are quick and simple. The mini's are quite good. In fact, the dragon in the Tyrant of Halpi is large and very cool. Overall, I like the game for a quick pick up. Which means I don't know when me and my son will ever finish playing all the expansions. Maybe I'll be playing with grandkids by then (:

Liked, your assessment, liked what I found on the web, and went ahead and made this my "Christmas present to myself" for this year.
...If it's a bad game, I shall give you crap for this, forevermore. -_-
Seriously, though, this looks very, very nice! I have the high hope that it will finally be a game that can replace HeroQuest for me and my pals!

ha-ha! sucked you in with my smooth salesmanship Actually, Dungeon Saga is a reasonable intro to miniature wargaming. Very basic in this regard. And it mixes in card based mechanics, story arcs, time restraints, and the slight element of roleplay within a dungeonesque environment. How's that for a sales pitch? ....probably a little wordy. Okay, I'll take the hit if you don't enjoy it. I'll enjoy hearing your feedback once you get the game, anyway.

Hehe, bought the core game, which in Germany comes with the Adventure Handbook (?), as well as the Valandor expansion, and a Germany-exclusive promo with a fifth character. ("Bloodcrow"-something, something.) That should keep me well-supplied until perhaps the second half of this year, and if I don't like it, my nephew will surely be marveled. I think this game, with four more expansions out there, could well become my own little niche: Others among my friends own nearly everything for Arkham Horror and Talisman. Me "specializing" on this game might be something that my peers around here might appreciate. So, in any case, already not "the worst possible buy".

Sounds like a nice package deal. The Adventurer's Companion allows for solo and GM-less play, as well as designing your own adventure paths. Good one to snatch.
Since you brought this up I found out that they recently released a new expansion, "Eye of the Abyss". Oh boy.
