The new trailer for Ghost of Tsushima makes me wish I were a Playstation owner. It's a gorgeous Samurai-themed game that hits all those notes of a sandbox "Oriental Adventures" style D&D campaign.
Mostly I just play old games on my laptop or pc. Lately it's been a lot of wads for the original DOOM (they still make tons of mods for it every single year. The game is like 26 years old now and has a massive community), or games like Age of Empires or Stardew Valley. I've also messed around a lot on Dwarf Fortress although that's daunting because of the interface and my enthusiasm fizzles out after a month or so every time I try it out. I also enjoy roguelike games like Angband.

I think "Kingdom Come" might be too much of a full simulation than a game, much like "Elite" takes a lot of time investment.

I think "Kingdom Come" might be too much of a full simulation than a game, much like "Elite" takes a lot of time investment. "Mount and Blade" is also very simulationist, but the combat is fun in that one. You can lay siege to a castle or act as a band of roving Vikings, and everything in between, all built on a relatively fun and simple combat mechanic. It's one of my favorite "historical" games, even though it's technically not set on Earth as we know it but a rough simulacrum thereof. The game does not include pure fantasy elements like magic or demi-humans, though. It's all mundane people vs. people diplomacy and the like. It's just that, for instance, instead of Saracens you have Saranids, etc. Palette swapped cultures.
