Question: So, did Arneson actually use a model of Castle Branzoll, at any point? - I've seen this suggested, several times, especially for the post-FFC era, from 1976 onwards. If so, which one? - Myself, I don't have neither the space in my study nor a specific interest to make room for such a model elsewhere, but... If there was one specific model that Arneson had used, and if it was still somehow available for purchase, then I would perhaps reconsider.

Not only post 1976, but he actually used this model even before the 1971 game that some consider the fist Blackmoor game. As to which model, I am not sure, but the castle was displayed on several occasions, both at Full Sail and I believe at GaryCon. There are a few videos out there that could help you identify it. -Havard

Quick question, which maker? There was a links here to the Aedes Ars and Kribi kits of Castle Branzoll, which is the one that Arneson used?
I thought it was the Kribi kit. If so, is there a reason to go with Aedes Ars over Kribi?

Thank you. I clarified my question.

I thought it was the Kribi kit. If so, is there a reason to go with Aedes Ars over Kribi? My understanding is DA used the Kibri kit. The Aedes Ars kit is 1:110 if you would prefer a larger model, but it is still too small for 25mm or larger minis. The AA kit uses individual ceramic blocks if you would prefer that to a plastic kit. Here is a video of construction of the AA model: www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=fISo1l1G-cc&ab_channel=PaulHuinink

Yes, the Kibri Kit. I think the one on display at Full Sail is the original. It was used in Napoleonic games prior to being pressed into service for Blackmoor. As a side note, during the pandemic I was looking to purchase the Branzoll kit and found it hard to find for anything besides astronomical prices. However Kibri sells the same model as "Burg Wildenstein" which is particularly funny because it looks nothing like the real Burg Wildenstein, so go figure. I've compared the Branzoll and Wildenstein versions very closely, and as far as I can tell the only differences is the the Burg Wildenstein model has ivy growing up one side of the tower. The kit also comes with a couple stickers you don't have to put on. So I saved myself a few bucks and bought the Wildenstein version. YMMV as prices change.
