Day 16, turn 7 for Axen, Clybe:
Clybe took the rest of the afternoon off from his training exercise to escort Axen around town and buy him replacements for all his things. The most expensive item was new chainmail -- Jake, at Jake's Arms & Armor in the Dawn Quarter, wanted 56 gold for a new suit Axen's size. It seemed a bit steep, but Clybe was able to convince him to come down 12 silver pieces on the price. In total, Clybe spent 113 gp and 6 sp replacing all of Axen's stolen things.
"That's a beautiful thing you're doing for him, Father Sando," Jake said after Clybe explained why they needed the armor. "Helping a down-on-his-luck Hobbit like that. Bless you, Father."
Inspired, Clybe asked Jake if he routinely went to church.
"Every week, Father," he said. "But if you're looking for someone who doesn't go to church, there's Modvitner. Modvitner!"
A black-skinned dwarf showed up from the workroom. "What?" he asked.
"You don't go to church. You should go with this priest and try it."
"I've told you, dwarves just aren't ...spiritual," Modvitner said dryly. "No offense, Father."
"Go and try it, or I'll dock you a half-day's pay."

Day 17, turn 28 for Semeragin:
Semeragin made his way slowly from the Inner Bailey's south exit, wound around it through the High Quarter until he was facing north again, and followed the streets that led into the Dawn Quarter. A crossbow-armed Freedom Patrol stopped him and asked how he had been hurt, and seemed disappointed that there was no one they could go place under citizen's arrest.
Semer knew the House of Healing and had no trouble finding it. Here he would get the rest he needed to, hopefully join the others again first thing in the morning. He was met there by a man only slightly more senior than Semer's lean years, who seemed to be the cleric in charge.
"I am Brother Peru," the man said. "You appear to be lightly injured. Ah, you had more seriously injuries, but they were divinely healed? You are a fortunate man. Come in. There are five other guests here now, but there are still beds available. Are you prepared to make a donation for more diving healing, or do you wish to remain the night and rest on your own?"

Semer gives a quick prayer and tells the priest briefly on the mission he is on. He says " a nice rest here sir and I believe I will be fine. I will make a donation for the bed and of course the fine work this church does. "

Day 17, turn 28a for Semeragin:
"The fine work all our churches do," Peru corrected him. "We all share responsibility for manning this house of healing. No matter how the ethos of our temples might deviate, the welfare of the people of Verbobonc is always foremost among them."
Politely corrected, Semeragin was left to his own devices while Peru made his rounds. Semer could mingle with the other patients here, or just pick a bed far from anyone else and get some shut eye.

Semer moves to a bed and gets out of his boots and armor. If there is a footlocker he stores those items there. He then puts his weapons next to the side of the bed. He says a prayer and then gets some shut eye.
While getting undressed semer looks around and sees who is on duty, who the patients are, anyone he recognizes. He also hears any close conversations. He also sees if this place needs anyone to stand watch or guard duty when he gets up or before he goes to bed.

Day 18, turn 1 for Semeragin:
Semeragin thought about doing those things as he laid down, but he apparently needed "shut eye" more than he realized. He slept long and sound.
Flocktime 20, Freeday, 594 CY.
The next morning, Semeragin felt much his old self again. ((He's missing only 1 hp and can fight again))
A different man was tending the House of Healing this morning -- a familiar man, Curate Hector Martin.
"Good to see you up and about, Semeragin," Martin said, with a pat on the man's shoulder. "I've heard good reports of two successful forays in Ryemend yesterday! You may stay here and rest as much as you need to, for tomorrow the church has big plans for you."
There were six other patients in the house this morning, soon to be only five. A young man dressed like a tradesman, with a small sack over his back, emerged from a dressing room and waited to thank the curate.
"Semeragin, I'd like you to meet this young man," Martin said. "His name is Jordan and he's a blacksmith from the Business Quarter. He's got the makings of becoming a hero like you! He was injured yesterday trying to stop a robbery."
Semer shakes the man hands and says "that was very brave. With some formal training you might have caught the thief. However the watch can be very wary of citizens arresting people. So if you want to do this legally I am sure the church could recruit you as a temple guard or the city watch could recruit you if you are interested."
He says to Curate Martin," sir I am OK to fight does Marcel still need me? If not then what does the church need of me?"

Day 18, turn 1b for Semeragin:
"No thank you, sir," Jordan said. "I've worked too hard to become a blacksmith to change jobs again already."
Martin had to take Semeragin aside into a private room to discuss church matters. "Marcel does not need you today because Ramon's team is resting up for tomorrow's attack on Dieg Manor. I recommend you spend today getting...whatever affairs you need to get in order. But, if you crave more chances for battle -- Curate Sando is looking for volunteers to aid in raiding an opium den today."

Day 18, turn 8 for Caltaran, Semeragin, Ramon, Joaquim, Marcel, (Axen, Koldo, Daphne, Fortunato, Laetitia, Gautier, Ibai):
While 11 adventurers entered the Dawn Quarter, Invisible Joaquim reached the Rusty Nail Tavern ahead of them.
The Rusty Nail Tavern appeared to be only a rundown alehouse, the inside scantly furnished and only attended by two Rhenee, a man and woman, maybe in their 20s. The woman was agitated about something, and the man (clad in leather armor, with a short sword sheathed at his side) tried to calm her down.
"It was probably nothing," the man was saying.
"Don't say that!" the woman said. Then she slipped into Rhopan, the Rhenee Tongue. The rest of the conversation was being lost on him now.

Semer says "perhaps Ramon someone not of church livery should ask the florence to stop selling drugs. She could get startled and she could scream for assistance. "
Caltaran chimes in with an idea " here is a better idea why don't Joaquim and possibly our halfling associates can scout out this hive and see what kind of security this place has and if possible find out where the supply of drugs are located. "

Day 18, turn 8b for Caltaran, Semeragin, Ramon, Joaquim, Marcel, (Axen, Koldo, Daphne, Fortunato, Laetitia, Gautier, Ibai):
Axen watched Semeragin and Ramon debate parlay tactics for a minute before interrupting. "Right, so I'll just go in there and sneak around, then. What could go wrong?" Axen turned and noisily stalked away, his armor clanging all the way.
Fortunato raced up and put a hand on Axen's shoulder. "Perhaps I should go in first instead?" Fortunato, in his quiet leather armor, asked.
"Sneaking in is pointless," Ramon said. "We go in and deal with this directly. Fortunato, it would be good, in my opinion, if you went around to the back to cover the exits. If you need help I'm sure someone will be happy to go with you."

((Sorry, I missed that the action had moved to this thread.))
Joaquim dropped his invisibility spell and spoke quickly. "Knock off whatever nonsense you're up to and listen to me right now. There is an intrepid band of adventurers on their way here right now, intent on ridding Verbobonc of the scourge that is opium. You might want to scram while you still have time."
Not much interested in their reply, the wizard cast a new Invisibility spell and departed to rejoin the group.

Day 18, turn 8c for Caltaran, Semeragin, Ramon, Joaquim, Marcel, (Axen, Koldo, Daphne, Fortunato, Laetitia, Gautier, Ibai):
Re-invisible Joaquim was back outside when the rest of the party showed up.
Fortunato took Ibai with him to the back door, as "back up for my back up."
The remaining nine of them filed into the tavern and found it -- empty.
"Don't worry, I know where they are," Axen said, and he pointed his sword to a curtained doorway.
Behind the curtained door at the back were some stairs going down behind it. The actual common room was down those stairs, in a cavernous room with arched, frescoed ceilings -- the deepest basement anyone had ever seen in the city, other than the catacombs under the temple. The frescoes and wall murals depicted pastoral outdoor scenes. Two small, tall braziers burned in the room, producing a sweet smell that was likely the opium they were looking for.
There was a Rhenee man and a woman down here, two mixed-race men, and a dwarf, all wearing leather armor and capes made the same color as the walls down here. They were avoiding the one lit torch down here, but the shadows were not concealing them.
"Right, we did not come for trouble," Ramon spoke to the woman. "Florence, it is time to end your opium dealing. If you and any of your people want to rehabilitate themselves, I can deliver you to the cathedral for reform."
He kept a grip on his mace but kept it down and non-threatening.

Marcel did his best to look intimidating. His heart wasn't in this endeavor, but he'd much rather the whole thing ended without violence. A few paces behind him, Joaquim rolled his invisible eyes, exasperated with the entire situation.

Day 18, turn for Caltaran, Semeragin, Ramon, Joaquim, Marcel, (Axen, Koldo, Daphne, Fortunato, Laetitia, Gautier, Ibai):
When it was clear that the numbers coming into the cellar far outnumbered them, the five thieves fled. They all fled towards the north wall where there appeared to be no exit. Instead of opening a secret door, though, the first man to reach the wall simply ran straight through the mural-covered surface and vanished. The other four were mere feet behind behind him.
