I remember being so excited to watch this when I was eight. What a trip. Music from Jefferson Starship. The animated segment is like a missing segment from the Heavy Metal film, Heavy Metal meets Star Wars. I think Boba Fett's voice actor was Gnarl's voice from the Den of Earth vignette. It's pretty bad otherwise, although kind of mind bending. Some neat hippie throwback stuff and an elderly wookie using the first cyberlove machine in recorded history... Star Wars Christmas

I remember a time before the wide adoption of Internet when talking about the Holiday Special was like talking about Bigfoot or UFOs: I would describe it and people who weren't there for it's one and only airing would think I was just making it up. It was literally too preposterous to be believed.
The animated segment is incredible and drips with funky psychedelic flavor. It's a diamond in a pile of bantha poop.

Ha ha! panning for gold in a shallow river of dung...but even funnier are the comments posted on the Youtube video,,,

The Chewbacca cartoon was my favorite part of the show as well. And then, there's this.
