Star Trek Continues is a series of fan-made episodes that picks up the original series where it left off. They star Chris Doohan in his father's role as Scotty. Grant Imahara (formerly of Mythbusters) plays Sulu. Many Star Trek alumni appear in these episodes. They recently released episode 4. Star Trek New Voyages/Phase II is another set of fan-made episodes in the same vein. They also feature many Star Trek alumn--Walter Koenig, George Takei, Grace Lee Whitney, Denise Crosby, Barbara Luna, etc. etc. Has anyone seen these? What do you think?

I've seen an episode or two of each series. Just last night I noticed that you can get Continues on YouTube! (So I know what I'll be doing with part of my weekend, anyway...)
I like them both. Sure, it's a bit jarring to see completely different people in the roles we know and love, but it's clearly done with great affection by all concerned.
Also, as I understand it, both of these series were authorized by Paramount or CBS or whoever holds the rights to the show. I think it's both a great gesture on their part toward the fans and a shrewd business decision -- they get free publicity and it costs them nothing. Win-win.

I think I've seen an episode of New Voyages/Phase II. At least, I saw something with a lot of time travel and somthing like three versions of the Enterprise all firing phasers simultaneously at some threat.

I did not know about the newer fan-made series, ST Continues, but I seen the New Voyages/Phase II (the first five or six episodes or so). I quite enjoyed "World Enough and Time" (the one with George Takei), as it had a gripping story and is my top favorite from that series. The rest are... so-so. I think I've seen an episode of New Voyages/Phase II. At least, I saw something with a lot of time travel and somthing like three versions of the Enterprise all firing phasers simultaneously at some threat. Than would be "In Harm's Way"; a sequel to "The City on the Edge of Forever" and "The Doomsday Machine", but dialed *way* past eleven!
