You see the flash of one of the barrels firing and feel the blast before you can hear the explosion... Shotgun, range 10 ft, using sedan for cover modifier -30, gangster agility 58, need to roll 28 or less, 1d100 = 40...miss... you're move... Tommy thanks his lucky stars as he reaches around the edge of the sedan and returns fire. Tommy: Agility 78 roll[d100 = 74]

You fire a round from your 38 at the prone gangster at a range of 10 ft. Your round strikes him in the upper right shoulder...his face grimaces and he fires the second barrel of his sawed off... (Range 10 ft, -30 for cover, agility 58, 1d100 = 78) Second blast fires wide and misses...he is now empty...

Drop it!!" {assuming he does...if he does not, Tommy will fire again} As he guards the passenger, he shouts for James, "hey Corky, you good?"

The gangster drops the empty shotgun then raises his hands. He yells "you shot me! Do you even know who owns this shipment? You're a dead man!" Your call to Jimmy gains the response, "I'm good. Driver didn't like a 38 in his face. You hit?"
The truck is fully laden with unmarked crates covered with tarp and secured with rope.

"Not hit, not sure how he missed.[points gun at wounded man] "Get up, move! Corky, cover these guys." Tommy then takes the shotgun and goes through their pockets taking ammo, cash, IDs(everything). He then gets the truck free and makes sure it's operational(will make it back).[back on foot with James] He says to James, "I say we knock'em out, or you could make them drive the car with you in the back with a gun on em' until we're out in the middle of nowhere? Tommy holds his gun on the mooks until James decides.

You take the sawed off and find 10 extra shells in the gangsters pocket. You also find $10.00. A check of the truck determins there is some front end damage but it is still operational. Jimmy gets some rope from the truck and says, JB: "we'll tie them up and leave em at the dinner. They can untie them when they open up in the morning. We'll flatten the car tires so they can't use it to follow us."

During the process, they'll have little to none conversation with each other until they're in the truck. James will keep the shotgun from that point. Tommy drives. He checks his watch and lights a smoke.

It's now 3:30 AM. You drive the truck while Jimmy takes "shotgun." The booze is well secured on the back of the truck and effectively covered with tarp. But, you are still driving a truck into the city laden with illegal alcohol. by the time you get back, you estimate it will be around 11:30-12 noon. You approach the outskirts of town (the drive so far being without incident) it's now 11:00 am...where do you go?

They may be watching for our return. We need to get off the road, maybe call Harrigan's and see if someone will bring us in. Start looking for a pull-off." Tommy says with a cautious look as he drags his smoke. Tommy: Observation[d100 = 86]

Jimmy: Observation 1d100 = 35. Jimmy say's there's a cut off leading to a fueling station. There might be a telephone there. You pull off the road and pull into a fueling station with a diner attached. There is a phone in the diner on the wall by the washrooms...

Tommy parks the truck away from pedestrian foot traffic and, as out of line-o-sight from the road as he can, and then goes in. "Keep snoopers away and keep an eye out for cops, they could be working for those other guys, I'll go make the call and see what they want us to do". Tommy walks through the diner suspicious of onlookers as he makes his way to the phone. "Operator, put me through to Harrigan's on Canal, in the city.....Hey, it's me, we did that thing, we have what we wanted. It was clean, so those fellas may have rang the bell, I'm not sure how to proceed during daylight hours."

The bartender says "right, hold on. I'll check and see." You wait about 5 minutes and then he returns and says "take it to the dock area. There's a guy named Sean. He'll show you where to park it. Watch out for the dock cops." The bartender provides the details then hangs up.

Tommy drives on following the details given.

You drive the truck to the docks following the directions received. When you arrive at the gates you ask for "Sean" at the guard shack and are told to drive to a warehouse inside the dock area. You drive over and park out front of a small warehouse amongst the much larger buildings. The warehouse is 2 story with a vehicle door in front, a pedestrian door next to it and a stairway attached to the side leading to the offices on the 2nd floor. You go to get out of the truck...
Make an observation check...

Your sitting in the front cab of the truck with Jimmy when you notice a suspicious car parked in the distance in an alley between 2 buildings. The car is a black Sedan. You can just make out 2 people in the front seat looking in your direction. Both are wearing hats. One is smoking a cigarette with his left hand hanging out of the drivers door.

Tommy will keep an eye on the sedan with one hand on his .38 until he gets out of view.

You climb the stairs until you get to a door with a window in it. Inside you can see an office. You knock on the door and a squat balding male in his 50's answers. In a slight Irish accent he says"You with O'Banion, are you? Did you know the d**n prohies and roaming around the docks?"

As you look down to your truck parked below, you see the black sedan drive drive up and park front bumper to front bumper. The 2 men in hats get out on both sides of their sedan. Jimmy can be seen getting out on the passenger side and tossing his hat back into the cab. The 2 hats are seen talking to Jimmy...The unknown male from the office say's "Prohies, you either pay'em or splay'em. But, you better act fast. O'Banion wants that truck in the warehouse. You loose it, you're gonna be on the hook fer it..."
The 2 prohibition agents have their backs to you. You can see that Jimmy is standing with his hands behind his back...not a good sign...

Tommy draws his .38 and moves down on them. As he approaches[as close as possible before he shouts], "Not today, make a move and your dead! Now hands up high!" [if the agents make any move other than, stillness with arms raising slowly, Thomas shoots]

Reaction Check. 2d10 = 9 + 5 (your presence) - 5 (NPC presence) +1 (drawn weapon) = score 10 Both agents freeze, look at each other then hesitate. They are tense and don't raise their arms...

James brings his hands from behind his back. In his right hand he is holding his 38 pointed at the 2 agents. James says JB: "you heard the man, raise your hands." Both agents raise their hands. Ones responds A1: take it easy, gentlemen. Don't do anything you'll regret. Keep in mind, We are federal agents..." The other agent looks over his shoulder at you and says A2: "the truck looks suspicious. i'm thinking its transporting illegal alcohol. By the look of you two, i'd almost guarantee it..."

"Well, we're not criminals. Just a couple of out o' work G.I.s looking to make a buck. We get a note handed to us from our waitress. A delivery job, that's all. We get paid when we deliver. Sure we think it seems shady but we need this right now. That's why we are going this way and your going that way without a peek or peep. If we ever find our guy and he gives us more work, I'll make sure and stay out of your way......unless of course there's a way we can help each other? Say, if we know something you like and share it with you and that in turn gets you to look the other way for a moment. I'm sure our handler has enemies. Information is currency......currency is currency if you have any, but right now, our pockets our empty....just like our stomachs, eh Corky?" Tommy tries and loosen up the tension.

A1: "Currency is currency, bouyo. Seeing as you sound new to this business, I suppose we could cut you a break, right partner?" A2: "Can't see why not? A1: "You probably didn't realize that you are transporting through our territory. You also probably didn't realize that there is a fee for such an endeavor. You got about 100 cases of prime on there? Around $7500-8000 retail. That's gonna cost you $500. Now, like I said, i'm gonna give you a break. You can pay me later. The agent then hands you his business card with his name, business number and address on it. He is Agent Mike Carson. A1: "contact me when you have the dough."

Sunday April 11, 1920, 1:30 PM. You arrive at Velma's Restaurant. You could use a bite to eat. As you enter your cousin says, JB: You know we're actually in the hole, right now. We spent money. Owe $500. Rents due. we're down about $550. When we get our money we won't be much better off..."
When you enter Velma's it's in full lunch time swing...
