Terje, this is a lot of good and fun stuff. I'm honored to see the influence of Carcosa. I'd never heard of "The Hoard of the Wizard-Beast" by R. H. Barlow and H. P. Lovecraft. I'm going to have to read that. Thanks for the tip!

I'm glad you all liked it! Terje, this is a lot of good and fun stuff. I'm honored to see the influence of Carcosa. Carcosa was pretty much what set me down this particular path!

This is all flavors of awesome! Mugwump-essence! Zardoz! Astral squid!
That's a great list of inspirations, too...

Truly awesome stuff, terje! Thank you for sharing! Quite interesting for me to see the many similarities to the setting I'm currently working on myself as well. And I found the "rumours speak of the Pyramid of the Spider-King" was a nice touch...

Hey, sorry for the thread necromancy but I'd like to start a campaign using Xuhlan, and am facing a slight issue: I have no idea what most of the creatures in the encounter tables are supposed to be, and can't figure out from where they come. Can anyone enlighten me?

Can anyone enlighten me? Hello raisin! Those creatures that are not specific to Xuhlan mostly come from AD&D 1E Monster Manual I and II and the Fiend Folio. The "Eye Beasts" are Beholders, but renamed because IP. The Amphorons of Yothri can be found in the Swords & Wizardry Monster Book. Some (mostly on the interplanetary space table) are random ideas that I just made up. Hope that helps!

Thanks! It's pretty amazing the amount of weird things that exist alongside orcs and goblins, in these books!

Thanks for sharing this, terje. I am currently looking for inspiration for an OD&D campaign of my own and this is right up my alley.
