I'm entertaining a thought about changing the class names to fit a Middle-earth setting. Game mechanics are otherwise unchanged. I'm going to follow the list of MERP classes, but I'm assuming that D&D/OSR will be used.
Fighter is renamed Warrior. Magic-user is renamed Lore Master. Cleric is renamed Healer. Thief is renamed Burglar. Bard is renamed Minstrel. Ranger is renamed Hunter. That way "ranger" can refer to the Rangers of the North or the Rangers of Ithilien.
Not sure if I'll actually do this, except maybe for healer and burglar. Just a passing fancy.
Edit: Paladin can be renamed Champion, although it's a Rolemaster class, not a MERP class.

This song is Galadriel's Lament for Eldamar, which appears in Fellowship of the Ring. I heard it was supposed to be part of the LOTRO soundtrack but didn't make it to the final cut. Beautiful piece. Music was composed by Thomas Chance. The singer is Jenny Jordan Frogley. The lyrics are by JRR Tolkien, of course, and you can see them here.Leaves of GoldIt is now on my list of favorites.

Tolkien fan #1: "Gil-galad was Fingon's son. It says so in the Silmarillion."
Tolkien fan #2: "Christopher Tolkien said that was an editorial mistake. Orodreth is Gil-galad's father."
Tolkien fan#3: "Guys, you know that Tolkien had a hard time deciding whose son Gil-galad was. Finrod was once in the running, and maybe one of Feanor's sons."
Tolkien fan#1: "Who was Gil-galad's mother?"
Tolkien fan#2: "I don't know, but she sure slept around a lot!"

Thanks, I didn't know about that one. I didn't own a computer until 2000, so I missed out on this game.

I played that as a kid. Can’t recall if the version I played had graphics, though. I think it was all text.

Should be the Nazgul commanded forces out of Dol Guldor against Lothlorein, which waged war while Gondar fought at Pelannor Fields, if I recall right.

You are right. but the elves of Lothlorien are mainly Sindar or Wood-elves. The most likely scenario if we are to accurately set this battle would be during the War of the Last Alliance, as the Nazgul didn't exist when Sauron invaded Eregion.
That said, I doubt the creator was thinking about any time period.

LOTR in the MCU.
Flash Thompson sets Peter Parker up on a blind date, saying "Have I got a girl for you!" The blind date turns out to be Shelob.

If that bunny were anything like the one in the Monty Python movie, I'd understand their terror.

Some comparisons between the movies and LOTRO. Of course, they share the same source material, so there will be quite a few similarities. The music is from LOTRO, specifically the Minas Tirith background music.
