A discussion of Elves, and dual-classed characters in general, on the G+ group has led me to derive Greyhawk-style XP progression charts for all the options discussed in Supplement I (including the Elf Fighter/Magic-User and the Druid), and also for an "unoffical" Halfling Fighter/Thief option. For those that may be interested in the Greyhawk approach to dual- (and treble-) classed DD characters, I've posted the charts here: forum.immersiveink.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=436&p=19458

Hmm, I've been trying to keep up with the chatter over on G+ but I must have missed some of this. Still, I popped over to your board, waysoftheearth, and had a quick look-over. It was on my lunchbreak, so I only had a chance to scan it kinda. I'll have to read further before I get the gist of things. But thanks for the post! Kind of liking the way the Elf works in DD by the book, myself... But perhaps that is because it's rather new to me! EDIT: Had a deeper look over at your post there. Made some comments or two

Hey Merctime, thanks for your comments. The Greyhawk stuff isn't meant to "replace" what appears in DD by any means. It's all just optional food for thought to be used or tweaked or discarded as you see fit

I haven't read Greyhawk cover to cover. Did it combine the xp for the elf as in the immersive-ink charts? Did it also do this for the halfling and dwarf with regards to Fighter/Thief?
Any thoughts on which way your players, or yourself, prefer advancement? I've heard a couple of guys mention doing half/third experience as in 1E/2E. Even when maxed as a fighting man, the elf still continues at half or third xp as it continues to level in magic user and/or thief. I've never compared the xp to see if any are numerically in favor or against a player.

Yes, Greyhawk specifies advancement of dual- and treble-classed characters as per the charts I posted (using the official OD&D HD and XP, of course). So "yes" to the Elf F/M-U and the Dwarf F/Th, but "no" to the halfling; there is no Halfling F/Th in Greyhawk.

Ok, I didn't realize the halfling was either/or with regards to the two classes. I assumed they could multi-class.

I think "multi-classed" is technically an AD&D thing. It's slightly different, but yes; AD&D allows a multi-classed Halfling fighter/thief.
