Gents,
I hope I am not overstepping in picking up a certain topic from a certain thread,
but since this one really went the wrong way, here, a hearty "I couldn't disagree more" from my side!
I am not an "oldschooler", and I am certainly not one of those pesky pretenders who try to act as if they lived out of their time.
- And I use IotU - like Carcossa, by the way - as one of my favorite resources! Now, granted, if you're not into the slightly gonzo setting,
chances are high that you will not run either of the modules by the book, but is a matter of taste, not quality.
If you use the book as a resource for encounters, it's a barren, but highly effective resource.
When people ask me for advice on good gaming books, it's always one of the first titles I recommend them.
So, much respect, Geoff, and don't let the usual internet haterade ruin the fun for you!
