I'm currently reading Castle Greyhawk by Scott Casper which is available at FanFiction.net. So far, it's fantastic! Here's the link: m.fanfiction.net/s/3720731/1/Does anyone know if Scott is a member of this forum? I would love to send an exalt his way! Can anyone recommend any other cool old school themed D&D fan-fiction or actual play reports?

These are great, thanks for posting! It's always nice, to me, to see how others run their games. Not just house rules and such, but the actual back-and-forth at the table - descriptions, mapping, rulings, handling different groups running around doing different things, etc. I wish there were more of these around. I always learn something new from them! I agree and hope this encourages others to record and post their OD&D sessions.

I agree! It's a great place and it's hard to argue rules when OD&D focuses on "rulings, not rules." Also, most other forums cover many editions and RPG game systems, so there is a lot of "my edition/RPG is better than your edition/RPG" arguments.

Nice charts, Fandomaniac! I may end up using these if I don't bother to make my own -- hope you don't mind. Exalt! I'm glad you like them. Here's the Open Office Document file in case you wish to revise for your style of play. Attachments:

Here's a PDF of custom reference sheets I created almost 3 years ago. It includes Attack Matrix, Saving Throws and Clerics verses Undead tables. The combat charts include both the traditional AC and Ascending Armor Class (AAC) conversions. It also includes Combat Sequence, Movement Rates of PC Races and Tactical Movement Rate Table (All from Philotomy's site). I revised Philotomy's Simplified Combat Sequence to fit my style of running combat. "Movement" phase was moved up before Missile and Magic phases. Attachments:

Is anyone running games on one of these voice chats? Could you share your experience and/or offer some tips? Have you tried both and prefer one over the other? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I turned 41 this past March and like Kesher, I started in 1982 with Moldvay Basic. Switched to AD&D in 1983.

I believe this confirms that he started with the Holmes Basic Set. Vin changed his profile pic to this on November 27:www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=6995669&id=89562268312Be sure to view all on comments to read Vin's comment. If you can't view the link, the photo was the cover of the Holmes Basic Set and here's Vin's comment: Vin Diesel: Kat Considine: -wrote- Hi Mr Diesel! In Mexico all facebook users are changing our profile picture for a photo of a cartoon that reminds you of your childhood, it's a game to bring happy memories of our inner kid and stop CHILDHOOD VIOLENCE. What cartoon reminds you of lilttle Vin?

I guess Vin started with Holmes Basic Set, since he was born in '67 and he was 12 around '79. How cool is that?

From Vin's Facebook page:At Thanksgiving dinner my brother and I were reminiscing about the days when we were first introduced to D&D... back in the late 70's. You would be surprised how it all began. It was actually a childhood friend's mother who really allowed us to start playing. She had heard the enthusiasm from us kids about this new fantasy game that essentially allowed one access to a world not unlike Tolkien's Middle-Earth. She went out to a store called "the Complete Strategist" and bought the first basic D&D set anyone I knew had ever seen. Our first campaign was held every Sunday evening, and of course it gave all the leverage to my parents to make us, twelve year olds, get our homework done early... cause we wouldn't have missed it for the world. That Christmas my grandmother bought us our own set and the rest... was history. P.s. A beautiful creative Sunday to finish a wonderful week... Hoss Griffin: -wrote- Is that where Melkor started? Grrr... Source: www.facebook.com/VinDieselMy Comment: Vin has over 19 million followers! What an incredible plug for D&D!!!

Sorry for your loss.
Honoring him in a game that you both love sounds like a great idea. I really like Geoffrey's demigod suggestion.
