I have run "FrankenD&D" a few times now over the years, to good effect. I have a desire as a DM to have a game system that matches the world and the dungeons to be delved, and borrowing from other editions can make this process of customization very easy.
Of these specific elements to borrow from other editions, I've found 4e's Minions to be much beloved by many DMs, whether they think of it as being from that edition or not.

I'm currently running a Carcosa game at my University that has been quite well received, particularly with regards to the horrific and surreal elements of the setting. All of my players have not played OD&D before, which has also been interesting. When I announced what I was running, the first question I got was "You mean AD&D, right?"
I've been having a great time, and it occurs to me that there won't always be opportunities like this either. Gotta make every session count.
Doing some After-Action Reports, I could be up for that. We'll see.

I would be interested, pending time and day of sessions and an elevator-pitch of your setting.

I'm about to run a campaign using a great deal of Carcosa material at my university, and these, along with the blank template for them and your Carcosa site as a whole, are absolutely great. Definitely got me in the right state of mind helped me visualize the twisted landscape of Carcosa better than before.

Why even give this Leonard Hagan and his bizarre "OD&D Stalinist Purge" conspiracy theories a second thought beyond concern of scaring away new members? I would have never heard of him, his blog, or his opinion had you not linked it here.

Where there was once a forest of towering and stout trees lies the tangled mess of their giant roots, stretching for dozens of miles. The mass of rotting wood has attracted all kinds of monstrous scavenging insects. How were such imposing trees felled all at once, and by whom?
I've used drifting spore-clouds for mushroom forests in my campaign. Those who don't take shelter from them may find various fungi sprouting up from beneath their skin over the next few days...

~200,000 views with 2 million+ subs, a you-tube partnership, and ad-sense is like 200 dollars a video.
So whatever 20 dollars they make from this video, they deserve it, because they provided us with about 10 minutes and 2 posts worth of forum entertainment each.

The strangest thing for me is that they act like they didn't know what ODnD was before they did some heavy research (read: one Wikipedia search), yet they're an explicitly RPG related channel. Also, a bothersome lack of respect for the work done by a what is at best a tiny publishing company to essentially invent the hobby they now enjoy.
Someone left them a message directing them to this board, and they responded, so better to keep my judgement brief and civil. Hopefully they learn more through some play.
