Finally watched it, I wasn't expecting much so I was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed it.

Been reading a lot of WW2 Pacific stuff, needed a break so I saw there was an audio book of one of Andre Norton stories "Search for the Star Stones" Murdock Jern and his mutant partner EET try with the help of a down on his luck Free-Trader pilot, to discover the source of the Star Stones with the Patrol and Thieves Guild in hot pursuit.

Listening to the old 1982 Blade Runner soundtrack by Vangelis Has anyone ever read "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep"? Is it worth reading? Is it enjoyable? I've never read it. I read Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep a few years back. I enjoyed it and recommend the book if you're interest in the theme. I guess I am into about a fifth of the book, I had tried to read it long ago but put it down after the first couple pages because it wasn't the movie. I am finding it pretty interesting now since I had no expectation it was the movie. Also helped reading a bit about Philip K. Dick himself.

I can't believe I haven't read his trilogy of Harald Hardrada. I've had the books on my shelf for years. I really enjoyed "War of the Gods." I meant to re-read "Three Heart and Three Lions" and then somehow got diverted to reading Rex Warner's two books on Julius Caesar.

I've give up on the program, maybe I would find it worthwhile if I had 3D glasses.

Picked up a copy for half price on Black Friday. Just been toying around with it mainly playing solitaire.
Started changing the table, background and adding components. Haven't tried many mods yet, one I did checkout was broken, they seem to depend too much on external resources. Can't wait to learn enough to build my own.

I listen to the soundtrack all the time. After watching the movie I can distinctly hear ornithopters, sand thumpers and drum sand that I didn't recognize before.

Interesting reading "Game Wizards" seems the TSR bosses dissed Rose Estes after the first four endless quest books because she tried to exercise a stock option, I believe she then quit.

I just read in "Game Wizards" that for a creative position working with Gary the applicant had to answer three reasons why Magic-users shouldn't be able to use swords.

Saw the movie. It's JUST Part 1 of the novel. And not even all of that. It ends before Jamis' funeral. It's good looking. The Atreidies are in black, but the banners are green and red... A minor change in the end of Liet. Yeah, Liet's a woman... but she has the needed body language and gravitas. Far more text faithful than de Laurentis, far more visually and scenically accurate than SyFyChannel. Doesn't feel rushed, doesn't feel padded. Don't you feel like you still need to have read the books? I think it would be hard to know what is going on at times if you didn't have a little background.

Just like "Lord of the Rings" if you like to read, read the books before you see any movie made about them. Frank Herbert was an awesome author, his words will paint a world that no movie can ever recreate.

A new final DUNE trailer dropped. I'm beginning to agree with those who are refusing to see it. What do you not like about this? Granted the sandworm is much smaller than I pictured when reading it, but aside from that it look OK to me. That has nothing to do with the "official" movie coming out. Its some sort of ripoff parody. I wonder if they won't be sued by whoever owns the movie rites to Frank Herbert's stories?

Well just read most of the first book of Thieves World edited by Robert Lynn Asprin. I couldn't read the book straight through, started to read different stories that took my fancy by authors I like the most. Some are better written than others. I thought I had read this book and others in the series when I was much younger but I didn't remember anything that I read. I think now that I had loved the front covers but never could get into the stories. I have this strange suspicion that William Gibson modeled his bartender Ratz on bartender One Thumb at the Vulgar Unicorn.
