"By [X's] beard!" is certainly a classic. Depending on the setting you can use it for various deities, picking a different one each time and including female ones as you like.
Alliteration gives a nice touch. I also like to make oaths and exclamations slightly scandalous in terms of the local religion, e.g. "By the bulging breech-clout of Baldr!", "In the name of Odin's unspeakable underpants!", or "Aphrodite's armpits!"
And there's always the pun, such as "God's Holy Trousers!" from The Man Who Would Be King.

Btw...did anyone else read the credits page?..particularly about the artwork? Very interesting. And it turned out fantastic. That it's computer generated? Yeah, that's opened up a whole case of cans of worms.

As glad as I am of this being created and sold… I guess I’m a stick in the mud, because, to me, it’s just T&T or M!M! with what anyone can and ought to do with regards to ‘lil extras’ for characters that I’d imagine and hope most T&T/M!M! gamers have been doing/using for many years. I totally get why it’s attractive, and I’m the last person who’d turn my nose up at it, as I love T&T and S&S-style games….but…honestly…it’s just easier to use T&T of any edition and add a teeny tiny slight knowledge of S&S in any way and acknowledge characters have a certain background, knack, talent, special something for a bonus. There. Done. No new game necessary…..especially a nearly 400 page one that has rules that ought be fully explained in under 10 or 5 pages! This has real potential to open up the system to new players, I think. While I'd rather it had remained the T&T supplement it started out as, I can see the appeal of a big, modern, standalone book to many people, people who might either not otherwise have heard of T&T/M!M! or may not have been interested. I've seen this being discussed outside of the usual T&T bubble, which is encouraging.

So many companies have changed ownership and become something quite unlike their old selves— Flying Buffalo, Chaosium etc—while others have become practically moribund, that it’s hard to find many I can confidently add here.
A strong exception is Khepera Publishing, Jerry D. Grayson’s company. Great guy, excellent products such as Mythic D6, Hellas and Godsend Agenda and very responsive to the community.

Outside of official D&D (and a trifle off topic) there's a wonderfully sinister illustration of Devil Swine by Luka Rejec in the Old-School Essentials Monsters book from 2019: The veneer of manners and civilisation makes them all the more terrifying.

Our show airs Sunday at 1 PM ET on YouTube and Twitch… Is there a podcast (i.e. audio rather than video) feed for your show? I've tried listening to shows on YouTube before, but since they stop playing when the screen isn't on it's not terribly practical.

Several sites are reporting that former TSR, Pacesetter and West End Games artist Jim Holloway has died. The news apparently came directly from his son.

In terms of easily available and short, the Tékumel Tales section of Tékumel.com should be your first stop. Several pieces of fiction to choose from there. An alternative approach would be to try Choice of the Petal Throne, a solo adventure available on Android and iOS, which gives a more interactive and immersive experience.

...is there a link to this? "If you wish to participate or want further details click on thecollectorstrove.com/the-trove-news/ to sign up and get a complete catalog of auction lots."It's the link to sign up for info. The actual auction isn't live yet, it seems.

There were numerous reports that the update had actually removed quite a number of product pages and links, so some people found that potential customers had lost all access to the products. The update has clearly not gone well on more than aesthetic levels.

Cold camping isn't merely uncomfortable, it can kill you. In freezing conditions you need a fire to melt your drinking water and, of course, to stay warm: Jack London's To Build a Fire is a recommended read. Unless you really know what you are doing and have some helpful gear then in colder conditions a fire is vital.
We tend to picture a clearing with everyone stretched out on their blankets around a teepee-shaped campfire, but that's often a lousy way to camp. Shelter is needed, especially if you're not lighting a fire (a basic shelter of branches with a blanket over the top makes quite a difference), for extra warmth and to stay dry. If you are cold then you're not going to have an uncomfortable night, you'll have an entirely worthless one. The following day you'll be sore, groggy, clumsy and vulnerable.
You can certainly go too far in a game, insisting on survival rolls every time the party sets up camp, but in a number of situations having a fire is not a choice, it's absolutely necessary.

Geography has dictated my group's play for years, so online is our normal method. Generally we play for about two hours. Three would be ideal, perhaps, but even with the lockdown several of us have work and childcare commitments.
Assuming we could get straight into the game I'd happily play for even half an hour… but we never get straight into the game 😁

If you want more Griselda than The No-Longer-Complete edition has then you might want to look into the stories presented as part of the Kraken chapbook series.

As derv detailed above, Starfaring certainly isn't T&T in space. Honestly, if you presented it to a modern gamer I don't think they would consider it an RPG as such at all: in many ways it reminds me of En Garde, which both is and isn't an RPG, depending how you look at it and define role-playing. As for whether it's the first SF RPG... probably. I've seen plenty of arguments that Metamorphosis Alpha isn't SF at all but is really science-fantasy, which is the sort of nit-picky categorisation that inevitably reduces everything to opinion rather than identifiable facts. Empire of the Petal Throne muddies the waters by being a fantasy game on the surface but having a science-fiction / science-fantasy history underpinning the setting, but it's not usually considered to qualify as an SF RPG.
There actually was a T&T in space game, which sadly never made it to production. WEB took the T&T-derived rules for Mercenaries, Spies & Private Eyes and adapted them to the setting of Flying Buffalo's popular play-by-mail game; shelved when the market took a nose-dive around 1984/85. Mike Stackpole found the manuscript for it a few years ago, but unfortunately, in part because it uses IP belonging to the estate of the late Fred Saberhagen, I'm told it will likely remain unpublished.

We are discussing the feasibility of adding the character sheets and dice to the retail version of the white box, but that's still up in the air. I realise that relatively few shops in the UK carry C&C, but I should mention that putting dice in the box changes it from a book to a game in the eyes of the taxman here and would put the retail price up by 20%.

OK, I've tried three different browsers, turned off my adblocker, loaded desktop and mobile versions of the site… and I still can't see any images, just a symbol showing that the image link is broken.
Could someone tell me what we're looking at here? Thanks.

Where everything fell apart was when Unearthed Arcana came out. Which is ironic, given that Unearthed Arcana was itself notorious for falling apart.

I don't do many Kickstarters, but I'm in for the book, the box, the advanced add-ons, and Winter's Daughter. I bought a copy of Winter's Daughter when they offered a pre-order a while ago and it arrived today. Nice little adventure and an excellent book (I got the limited hardback version which, like the Kickstarter volumes, is properly sewn and printed on a lovely cream paper). Bodes well for the physical quality of the new edition rules.
