Day 5/Turn 3 for Gerard:
The cobbler had a small, but prominently located, shop along a row of shops on the west side of the street. He sold and repaired shoes, doing business from the open window in the front of his shop, so that Gerard had to interview him while standing in the muddy street outside.
"Your boots, those are not good boots," Leandro said, looking down skeptically over the window ledge of his shop. "I'll sell you nice boots. The attack? Oh, that was terrible. Yes, right outside my store! It was a man in platemail armor who was attacked to. I would have thought he was a cavalryman from the garrison, but he wasn't wearing any colors; must have been an out-of-town mercenary. Then this half-orc comes out of nowhere and attacks him with a hatchet! I would have thought, armor that good, this man would be safe, but this half-orc, he was brutal with that hatchet. The man he attacked went down after a short fight and probably would have been dead, had I not blown my whistle."
Leandro produced such a whistle proudly, hanging around his neck. "All the shopkeepers have one, but I was first to blow mine. A patrol came running to investigate and the half-orc ran off. Down that alley south of here, heading west."

"My thanks for the appraisal, cobbler. Once I claim the bounty on this orc, rest assured, I will purchase new boots". Gerard looked into the street as Leandro spoke, picturing the scene in his mind. As the story concluded Gerard looked at the whistle and nodded approvingly, "A most heroic blow of the whistle if there ever was such one. The victim owes you a debt of gratitude, no doubt". Gerard then thanked the cobbler for his time and went to the alley that was south of the shop and heading west.

Day 5/Turn 4 for Gerard:
The "alley" was just an open space between shops that led to a shared backyard between four homes. A small herd of goats were grazing in the yard. Gerard looked around for clues, but no doubt the goats had trampled or eaten them all.
"What do you want with my goats?" an old man asked from an open window nearby.
Gerard asked the man about the incident.
"All I know is someone came through here and upset my goats something awful!" the man said crossly.
"Gerard!" a familiar voice said. It was Gerard's drunken friend Lluc, finally up from the table in the Season's End Tavern where he had spent the night. Lluc followed Gerard from the street. "Glad I found you! Sosimo, that tavernkeeper, he wants me to pay up my tab. Can you loan me four gold? You know I'm good for it..."

"Loan?!", Gerard exclaimed. "If you can walk straight and stay quiet you can help me find this half-orc that eludes capture. A purse of 6 gold is awarded for his live capture, and I am certain we can shake him down before handing him over".
The veteran looked back to the herdsman, "Did you see which way he went after upsetting your herd?".

Day 5/Turn 4a for Gerard:
"I'm not sure...I think he went that way," the man said, pointing southeast. There was another gap between house and shop in that direction.
Meanwhile, Lluc was scratching his head, which he usually did when he was thinking ("It makes my brain itchy", he would say). "Gerard...we've done caravan work with a half-orc or two before. Maybe they would know this one half-orc you're looking for. If we could find the ones we know, that is..."
